difference between when kerry said F and when DICK said it....
Kerry used it as an verb (past tense) to describe what bush has done to the economy.....
.... it was directed at no person.
DICK used it as an invective..... a comment used to denounce another person (namely Sen Leahy.... whose shoes DICK is not worthy to shine)

1. Is that so? Well, FUCK HIM THEN.
Man, I love saying that, especially when they no longer have a moral leg to stand on.

2. Parsing words, just like a liberal
Like Bill Clinton and the definition of "is"...yadda yadda yadda. Damn Democrats, always confusing the issue with truth and facts. I can see you getting your head ripped off on Faux News right now...

11. You mean the Faux News Network would talk about anything . . .
that put the Bush Administration in a bad light? I use to watch them but they continued to make smart ass jokes about Clinton, which to me did not really seem like professional journalism.

I figure since they are the newest news network that they had to take what they could get as far as talking heads. Of course, the women look like the Faux News Stepford Reporters. They are all blond and wear so much makeup it's hard to take any of them seriously. I only believe what they say if they have pictures to prove it.

14. I actually saw them having this argument this morning
The Democrat (a cute blonde woman, though not very Stepford-ish), was trying to explain the difference between Al-Qaeda CONTACTING Saddam and Al Qaeda COLLABORATING with them. She was dismissed as a typical liberal word-parser; the asshole even referred to Clinton's "is, is" remark. Apparently we liberals are real fond of duplicity (I thought it was just a penchant for accuracy, but what the hell would I know?).

4. I won't make the contention
I personally don't think it matters that Cheney said it, what matters is the conservative corporate press and how it treats both issues. For Kerry it was a character moment, for Cheney it is... well they haven't agreed on what to call it yet, but it'll come off like Bush's asshole remark during the campaign. It'll be 'real men swear'.

7. Omigosh, is Tricky Dick Cheney ALSO a snake-handler?
That would be too rich!

Although I have to admit a grudging respect for folks who can charm snakes.

10. I think Senator Lahey was gracious when he said that . . .
he thought Cheney was just having a bad day.

Umm, Anyone see a formal apology anywhere from Cheney to Lahey?

All I saw was since Cheney was the "President" of the Senate, he could say anything he wanted and since he held that position, the rules, basically, did not apply to him. So whether the Senate was in session or not, everyone else must follow the rules in the Constitution . . . just not Cheney. Wonder when they will add an Amendment pertaining to this????

12. You all know that since they were posing for pictures, that . . .
some journalists were there and videotaping it as well. Wonder who is holding the film? Wonder if any of the reporters were allowed to leave with any of their film? Probably the latter!

17. The "liberal" press is spinning it to make it look like
Edited on Fri Jun-25-04 09:49 AM by merh
Leahy went over to Chaingang and started picking on him about Haliburton. I have not heard or seen one report today that says Chainboy went over to Leahy and started harassing him about his stance on Haliburton. It's all Leahy's fault, he started it. Mommy he started it, WAAAHHHHHHHHAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

I hate the press.

(edited because I cannot type)

20. Doesn't matter who started it
What matters is Cheney can't control his temper. He is unstable.

21. It is the spin they are putting on it.
Last night Faux news was equating Chainboy to Agnew. Agnew was the one who took the hits and defended the president and was Nixon's tough guy. Trying to make it look like Dick isn't as his name suggests. He is defending his boss, our prez, our country. And he should be applauded for his passion, any way what do you expect if someone comes over to you while you are doing the important things president of the senate does during group photos and someone starts to harass you about your old company.

They are justifying the use of the word. Their defense is justification

Justify:

the war
the torture
the 9/11 failures
those 7 long minutes

Justify - justify - justify........

22. Anybody have Lexus-Nexus?
Seriously.

People here, myself included, spend W-A-A-A-A-Y too much time on message boards. Incidents like this get great play in our circles but disappear without a ripple in the real world. As they should.

I really have no idea how much real world publicity Kerry got for his use of the F-word. The freepers, naturally, made a big deal over it and a couple of conservative commentators mentioned it in passing. Limbaugh also picked it up, and that is probably where it has gotten the most play. I don't remember about Drudge.

But adding that up, it's still not much. Most people ignored it. Will Cheney's language make it into the mainstream media? We'll see.

I am, of course, shocked that any person in public life would even know, let alone use, such nasty words. That said, Kerry was speaking in an interview, for publication, so his use was probably intentional. He should have restrained himself. Cheney was speaking in informal conversation but in a situation where he could be overheard. He too should have restrained himself. Both have now demonstrated that they are totally unfit to serve in public life. The country is indeed in desperate shape.:)
