We should all start using the term "wild-eyed" ...
Only we should use it in a positive light. For example, "On July 4th, 1776, those wild-eyed patriots we call the founding fathers ..."

Frankly, I think we should do that with every disparaging term they try to throw at us. Those of us who are writers should slip the terms into stories that have nothing to do with politics - e.g. "Unlike other banks that make you jump through hoops just to apply for a loan, Firstbank is known for its "liberal" credit policies ..."

I think Newt Gingrich was really onto something with the little language games he tried to play back in the 90's. We should learn from their tactics and start fighting back.

1. You're right. It's something we need to come to grips with.
Our society must be marketed to in a consistent vocabulary and repeated to ad-nauseum. It makes you feel dirty to do it, but right now I think the average American can name more brands of cereal than Amendments.

Consistency in message is key. Take consolation in your good motivation as you repeat yourself.

Could we construct our own list of terms? We should.

"wild-eyed patriots"
"cheap labor conservatives"
"greedy corporate boards"
"oligarchs"
"influence peddlers"

keep 'em coming.

3. I agree whole heartedly -- its the spin you put on it.
If they throw it out there as negative, then we throw it back out as a positive.

Like this optism garbage they are trying to portray. An ad with * making his statement to the press, war on terror, fight terror, yada yada, "now watch this drive" - our caption should be "is this the optism you want in control?".or "is he too optimistic about his drive?"

8. Definition of 'wild-eyed'
http://dictionary.reference.com/search?q=wild-eyed

Extreme and passionate in belief or advocacy

Who here is 'wild-eyed' about real healthcare reform? Who here is 'wild-eyed' about the environment?

What are the neo-cons 'wild-eyed' about?

10. it does seem like a lame term to attack with...

considering how Rumsfelt usually flails about in front of the camera, or "Go Fuck Yourself" Cheney sneers and snarls. *, though, just seems to have dead eyes, like nobody's home, so I guess it can't really be turned back on him.

11. Not only that, instead of "puke" or "barf" we need to go back to
our grade school days and start using "Ralph" for throwing up!

Is it just my neck of the woods or did anybody else use "I have to Ralph" when you felt ill?
