So there I was in the cafe, listening to two guys discuss religion... |
|
The wife and I stopped in one of the local eateries for a late lunch, and the place was kinda empty except for a couple of guys discussing their religion loudly enough to be heard. They sounded like typical Christians(sorry, not meaning to categorize, but...), however sprinkled in the back and forth about the religious stuff was one comment about Bush from one of the guys. Well, we had to listen to them babble on during our meal, and I could see the wife rolling her eyes, a bad sign. To make a long lunch short, as we left I sauntered by their table and said, "Answer me this. Do you think Bush is the Anti-Christ?". The one guy answered, "No, but I think he's being directed by the Anti-Christ, and he visited his master last week." As I wandered away I said in parting, "You mean the Reverend Sun Myung Moon?". LOL I'll bet neither of THOSE guys votes for Bush! Maybe we need a whispering campaign to start the rumor Bush is the Anti-Christ, whadda ya think? It's not really THAT far fetched, and makes them fundamentalists really think about who they're voting for, IMO. :hi:

I mean, a quick traipse through the Christian Testament should be sufficient to show that while Bush draws near God with his lips, his heart is far, far away. And Jesus, Paul and John all have some pretty harsh things to say about people who do that.
Not to mention Jeremiah, Amos and Hosea from the Hebrew Testament.

2. I was surprised that there is not more reaction to Moon by conservatives |
|
Christians, especially. This guy has been trouble for a long time. His group was the one we were all warned about before going to college in the 70s and early 80s. He is committing blasphemy by their standards, yet they support him?
WWJD? I don't think he'd crown Moon in some kind of ceremony in the US Congress.

8. I think there's no outcry because either some are STILL not informed, and |

I think it's too embarassing for the rest of them to admit that Moon owns their most trusted source for right wing news, The Wash. Times. Bet most people don't realize he owns all of UPI now, once a decent and prominent news company.
And I guess there are a few who don't care, as long as it's not "liberal media" news!

9. Scam artists usually have a degree of respect for each other's territory |
|
Moon, his Republican supporters, and the conservative Christians involved with him, all know that they're in the same business - to suck the money and life out of our population. The issue is one of each group not intruding into the others' territories. Honor among thieves, I suppose. It's like mafia groups dividing up a city into non-competing areas.

3. I think you got it wrong. |
|
They were probably referring to his visit with the Pope. Many of the fundies believe he is the Anti-Christ and the Catholic Church is the Whore of Babylon.

4. Shoot--I'm not really even very religious |

but Bush is making me start to wonder about the Anti-Christ stuff in the Bible! Perhaps it *is* true.

6. I've Already Been Using It |
|
I have said that he may be the anti-christ but I've been doing it like this. Most folks who know me are aware that I have no religious belief at all. So I simply say, "well, I read what a lot of people have to say and you know, some folks are saying that Bush is the Anti-Christ. I don't believe in that stuff, but you have to wonder" It plants the seed, and so far it seems to have been at least somewhat effective. I have a born again friend who I have somewhat frequent conversations with, I am now almost certain that he will not vote for Bush. He will vote in the election, I'm sure of that, but I think me may pass over his chance to vote for President, and that doesn't bother me one single bit.

7. Yup, that wording sounds pretty effective. |
|
I happen to be a believer in the Great Spirit, but the idea I can only find the Great Spirit through Jesus leaves me cold, sorry. The idea of the Anti-Christ fascinates a LOT of the fundamental crowd, though, and I for one have NO compunction about linking Bush and Satan in ANY way possible. Fitting karma, as I see it. :hi:
