Today It's Bill NELSON or VILSACK
Yesterday it was GEPHARDT or VILSACK. But Cindy-the-cocktail pal of BOTH the PATAKIs and the CUOMOs certainly has been running a lot of KERRY items for weeks.

KERRY. The new lineup for the new date for the new fund- raiser concert at Radio City on July 8 includes Mary J. Blige and the Dave Matthews Band. They're add-ons. Rolling Stone's Jann Wenner, who is exec producing, originally wanted both dates but scheduling wouldn't allow. Ain't easy juggling stars and bookings. Dave sandwiched it into a three-day tour, Mary had that lone night free. The line-up lost Bette Midler, who's vacationing in Italy with her family, and James Taylor, who's on a European swing. True believer Whoopi managed to reschedule. Ditto Wyclef whatsisname, Bon Jovi and John Mellencamp. Sarah Jessica's an introducer. Holdover Paul Newman hosts and, in fact, has already wrote a funny intro. I mean, Billy Crystal he isn't but, still, the speech is not a shame for the neighbors.

MORE Kerry. His search for the elusive Perfect Vice President appears now to be focusing on two dark horses who are seeming lighter and lighter. One's Florida Sen. Bill Nelson. Personable, young, former astronaut, Vietnam vet, if picked he'll cause President Bush to spend lots more money in Brother Jeb's state. Another talked about is Iowa's Gov. Tom Vilsack, who'll maybe deliver Ohio and Michigan, those swing states, ride up and down the Mississippi and play well in the Midwest.

1. I'd go with Nelson. I like him. He has a very manly resume.

2. Bill Nelson = loss of another Dem seat in the Senate
Not only a crappy VP candidate but JEB! gets to appoint his replacement. This is the worst idea yet.

Eitehr one of these guys with Kerry would be the Sominex Ticket.

Tame, stale status quo centrist. White male middle aged. No real charisma. The DLC will be happy.

(That is not a slam on either Nelson or Vilsack. Both seem like good men in their current positions. But not as VP.)

7. I still think it's Edwards to loose
Way to many of the higher-ups in the party seem to be pushing for him.

8. I don't know about you guys
but I love all this excitement and speculation about the VP. It's like following a sports team. "Come on, Kerry, pick Clark! He's got a batting average of .325! What are you thinking with Vilsack?" I think the whole thing is exciting.
P.S. - I'm leaving for Fahrenheit 9/11 in about forty minutes. Maybe I'll review when I get back.
