A co-worker and I were just discussing this. I thought I'd throw it out and see what everybody would think of such an idea:
Have President Clinton host a talk-show. The format could very. I'm thinking of something like a round-table or town-hall like format fused with a talk-show like format. Mix in some guests -- be it celebrities, experts, or political. If you really wanted to have fun, you could host it in 'guest' cities: move the show around to mix-up the audience & provide the show with some regional flavor.
1. The show would have built-in ratings. Love or hate Clinton, the man could command an audience. 2. Doesn't it seem like such a format would be custom-tailored for Clinton? He loves an audience. The secret service used to joke that they had to 'protect the people from the president' and not the vice-versa. 3. It would raise the level of discourse on TV today. Stop with the shallow actor/actress interviews, makeovers, or the 'whose-your-daddy' talk shows. This talk show could tackle real issues. 4. It would allow the Dems to keep Clinton in front of the public -- which is priceless publicity. 5. You could 'leverage' the show to give publicity to issues and/or candidates that you wanted to prop-up. 6. It would cost next-to-nothing to produce. The audience would come for free (or pay) to see a yet-popular-ex-president. You'd pay President Clinton. The guests would appear just to promote themselves or their current projects (just like any other talk show).
I think a show like that would dominate. Your thoughts?

and I thought it was a done deal for a while. Somebody backed out, or maybe there were just too many practical problems.
Clinton and Oprah back-to-back would be an interesting thought.

4. nothing personal taken.. |

..after all, I asked for people's opinions. To each their own. I don't think a Bush-version would fare as well.. don't we already have "A Simple Life" and "America's Funniest Home Video's"?

5. Bill Clinton should be on right after "Oprah." |
|
He'd maintain her audience.
Great ratings.

9. I'd rather see Al Gore. |
|
On second thought, nahhh, Gore would have something to talk about other than himself and sex. Too intellectual.
