I'm soooo confused...
When I was in second grade I was reading the Hardy Boys and the Bobbsy Twins. It always struck me as odd that Bush would:
1. Read aloud to 2nd graders.
2. Read a book called "My Pet Goat".
Were these developmentally challenged children?
Why doesn't a Google of that title turn up any books?
Why does a search on Amazon fail to return that title?
Or as Rilke said, "learn to love the questions".

2. Then didn't he say something like they were so smart |
|
they must be FIFTH graders? (or some higher grade.) As if "The Pet Goat" was really for fifth graders?
I agree, I was reading way beyond books like that in second grade, and in fifth grade too for that matter.

3. The book does not seem available for purchase. |
|
Does anyone have a link to more about the book? I'm curious as to the age group it's considered "suitable" for.
Excellent queries, chiburb!!

10. Ah. So I'm not the only one... |
|
Thanks for the link. From the text provided there, I'm even more puzzled. Maybe they gave Bush a book that even he could handle? It's still very strange to me.

5. If the vile freeperish types do their moronic "flip- flop" thing at Kerry |

rallies - we should wave copies of "The Goat" back at them! If we can't get real books - just xerox the front page.

6. They were reading to him |
|
he just SAT THERE with a book in his hands. After being told that a passenger liner had crashed into the first WTC tower, he SAT THERE. AFter Rove told him a second liner full of people had crashed into the other tower and that the country was under attack, he SAT THERE.
Most damning footage there is of this moron, and "journalists" failed completely in reporting it.
The next time some blowdried airhead of a styrofoam news personality whines that Moore's movie aint "balanced," I hope he tells him it might have been had they DONE THEIR DAMNED JOBS!

11. He didn't seem to be reading it to them |
|
After Card came and whispered in his ear, he looked around, looked confused, and finally picked up an apparently random children's book. Fucking bizarre.
