Help me DU this poll
Edited on Fri Jun-25-04 05:30 PM by louis c
I have two members of my local 123 whose kids played on the Saugus Ma. Little League team. ESPN is polling for their espy awards.

This was a hell of a game, Saugus won in extra innings. From my stand point, it fits in nicely with what we want to accomplish in November.

Let everyone see again a Massachusetts victory over the folks from Texas(no offense to our Democratic Friends from Texas, but I'm sure you get the point). I certainly would consider it a favor to me and my local, and the kids from both sides will get a kick out of the recognition more than the millionaires who don't need it. Thanks.

louis c

7. Done...
Can you believe 3 of 4 candidates involve local MA teams?

I was very proud of the Saugus team in that LL World Series game. Imagine that! Right here on the North Shore!

Now...A little off this topic. (One hand washes the other)? How much influence do you have with the IBEW leadership in the area? Apparently, they have endorsed the incumbent Peabody State Rep, but she is..um...how should I put this???...Well, she is a MORAN!!!!

Her explanation for voting for the constitutional amendment banning same gender marriages is that - and I paraphrase - everyone knows marriage was meant to be between a man and a woman to have children...Besides, "the gays", as she calls them, have all the same rights to marry as everyone else. Just as long as it is not to someone from their own sex......um.....HUH??? I'm sorry to hijack your thread, but when I saw you are IBEW the urge was too much to resist.

Spiliotis. I'm the president and BA of my local 123, which represents Suffolk Downs Race Track.

I serve on the Greater Boston Labor Council (AFL-CIO). We actually recommend endorsements of the cities and towns in our area. Unfortunately, your area is in the North Shore Labor Council. The president of that group is Crosby of IUE (GE-Lynn).

I voted in the meeting of the GBLC Committee on Political Education (COPE) to endorse progressive, pro-labor Reps and Senators in the greater Boston area. If it's any consolation, I withheld my support for Speaker Finneran. He did, however, receive the required number of votes for endorsement.

To your question. The endorsements were made last month, and I have little, if any influence in your area. However, contact Mr. Crosby (I've forgotten his first name) because he has a great deal of influence on the North Shore and has a very progressive agenda. You can probably contact him through the IUE office in Lynn, or the NSLC.

I hope Ive given you some help.

9. Thanks, you have.
There does seem to be a conflict between the leadership and Jeff Crosby.

I swear, the first thing Representative Spiliotis does each morning when she arrives at the state house is to go into the Speakers office and ask him how he wants her to vote that day.

As far as mearriage being meant to produce children,....I guess she will soon be disolving her second marriage, since it has been something like 17 years and is still childless.

10. Ya, Jeff
I couldn't think of his first name. He can put some pressure on, and you can't get more progressive than him. I didn't think she had an opponent, though. If it's a Repuge, you'll have no choice.

11. Actually, she has 2 opponents
in the Democratic primary. One is the same Democrat she ran against 2 years ago. The other just retired from the city council 2 years ago.

I'm sure there is a (R) running too, but I'll be damned if I can recall his name.
