The first exchange in the 2nd United States Civil War
I have to say that I have been in a daze since last night after watching F911. I realized today what this movie truly is - a hit back to the conservatives and the freepers that have been shoving crap down our throats for the past eight years. Gay marriage, prayer in schools, impeachments, fith based initiatives, the right to choose, etc - all these issues one way or another have become polar extremes in the past few years. There is no middle ground.

Finally we are fighting back...and I have a feeling its going to get worse from here on out. This war is not going to be fought with rifles and cannons, but with activism and media. The lines have already been drawn in the sand and it makes me quite sad.

1. If they steal this election, it MAY be fought with guns, in the streets
It may indeed. I know which side I'll be on.

2. I'm ready for that contingency
Been reading a lot of the writings of the Founding Fathers lately.

Rock and roll, baby.

7. 58 years old today. My big Hee Haw a$$ will be in the streets if they
steal this one. I want the congress and the courts, also. I want Limbaugh and most of the admin in jail for war crimes. Then I will settle back and look forward to my golden years.

3. Actually You Are More Right Than You Know
There was a think tank study released a couple months ago that examined social trends. It stated pretty clearly that a large schism is opening in the American public that is profound enough to lead to civil war.

Sorry, I don't have a link.

Several here at DU believe that we are headed for a Civil War again as the stratification of wealth continues and the promised opportunities in our society dwindle to empty rhetoric.

You may be quite right, F911 is the opening volley.

4. You're right excelt "This war is not going to be fought with rifles..."
It already is...bombing of abortion clinics, murders of Gays in Red States...

I expect the violence to continue, and the media to feed the hate as much as they can. After all, murders at 9 make for good ratings.

5. i don't know that i agree ...

I am in Arkansas and here, as in many places, the electorate is pretty evenly split but I don't really see even any discourteous behavior much less anything remotely violent because of politics.

The number of people who feel that strongly is very limited.

As of now, anyway ... barring another election theft or some crap like that.

edited because my typing sometimes SUX.

10. I don't think people will take to the streets
until they are desparate enough. People are still too busy trying to make ends meet to realize what is happening in this country. They don't realize that American corporations have taken over the government and is in the process of eliminating the middle class.

The people that run these companies don't care whose lives they ruin.
So what if the CEO's and CFO's cook the books and inflate the price of the stock, all while granting themselves huge numbers of options and cashing before the shit hits the fan and the small investor (usually the employees)are devastated financially. there's no price for them to pay when they get caught. a couple months at some low security prison and fines that are a mere pittenence of what they stole.

They think they'll be safe with their money in their fortified gated communities.

I fear for them if this ever happens.

6. The Cons are itching
for a fight. Their ideas are wrong, they know they can't help but lie in their losing attempt to build support for their criminal activities.

Cheney's f-word is where there are...out of ideas and nearly out of their minds and down to the last vestiges of defense prior to getting physical.

8. It's a question of patriotism.
For them, not us. It's looking more and more like the question the Commander-in-Thief and his minions are going to ask is, "do I care enough about this country to willingly step down and suffer the consequences of my actions?"

If the answer is no, and they do what I think they're going to do, then all bets are off as to how we get our country back.

11. I Think You Are Right, Many Of Us Are At The Level Of Desperation
required to fight.

My take is the enabler will be something related to the patriot act in combination with a continuing poor economy.
