Poll question: Who came off as the worst in Fahrenheit 911? |
|
Edited on Sat Jun-26-04 07:13 PM by Fenris
I have excluded the obvious answer of "terrorists/Osama bin Laden" and for the sake of keeping this domestic, I left off Saddam.

2. Voted media, Chimp is already a few steps below horrible. Media came |
|
off looking bad. Also losing the last bits of respect I had for Dascale. His typical pink tutu remark about the Cheney F yous to Patrick did't help him with me this morning after my viewing of F911.

The woman who was yelling at the mother whose son was killed in Iraq.
Its attidudes like this that are really damaging our country. We need to find a way to not only combat that type of thinking but end it entirely. The Bush administration's fearmongering is what's feeding it in part.

...after seeing this film I'm thinking Bambi might be a better name. He does have that deer in the headlights look.
And wtf was that business about digging for bugs on the ranch? Digging for bugs? Digging for bugs?
Chimpy is stark raving barking mad, there is no two ways about it.

35. An ancillary effect of that movie was the |
|
rekindling of my outrage at the media. This could not have happened the way it did without their complicity.
They all have blood on thier hands. They need to be dragged through the mud as much as the * administration.
What can be done, how can we bring big corporate media down? I refuse to watch television, but there needs to be a more organized indictment of our media's complicity in what has happened over the past 4 years.

Seems to me that F911 is more of an indictment of our wealth-driven, plutocratic society than of the Bush administration.
I got the feeling that Moore was saying the Bush administration is a symptom of some very deep-seated problems.

25. The goddam whore media ... |
|
...because it was their responsibility to tell us this shit about the bush cartel, and they paved it over. Because of their constant insistance that Al Gore was some kind of pathological liar who reinvented himself through choice of neckties, while bush was portrayed as "the kind of plainspoken guy you'd like to meet at a barbeque", we're stuck with the evil-clown administration.
Worst of all, with their instant mountains of ad hominem abusives against anyone who dares to criticize their anointed "spiritual leader" (no shit, they've actually called him this), the media whores are obviously doing everything they can to extend the bush reign for as long as possible.
We hates them, yessss, we hates them my precious. Nasty little media whoreses, selling out our democracy. Sssss.

They were downright pathetic.
Also the SENATE when the BC was begging for one frickin name. I am still angry about this outrageous, unpatriotic and disastrous behavior.
Oh...and in the corporate meeting about oil that Microsoft helped sponsor. I pray that Microsoft goes broke even with my piddly little bit of stock.

28. I vote for The House of Saud |
|
I just got back from F911. Yes, I knew most of bits and pieces from DU post. Yet, movie was way more powerful than just the sum of this information.
Now, I am telling you why 'The House of Saud' came first for me. I am originally from Japan, married to an American guy. During 80's there was lots of Japan bashing going on. Some were understandable and some were very opportunistic. (This is why I still dislike Gerhard....)
The sheer size of monetary interest (by the house of Saudi) really scared me. It's not even billion. It's over trillion. Even for Unlisted States, it is not very easy to afford to get rid of Saud influence. It is almost ironic to me that no American is screaming Saud invasion of Unlisted State. Unlike 80 ‘Japanese invasion’, this huge amount of money is controlled by very small number of people.
We talked a lot about Sadam's torture chamber and stuff. But we never talk about the medieval nature of Saudi's criminal justice system. It does not matter if a government do it in a modern way or medieval way. Saudi's criminal justice system is in essence as brutal as Sadam.
Saudi Arabia is a very good role model for the society that the misadministration wants to create.

The Bushes are what they are.
All the information that Moore found is public knowledge, and any halfway decent journalist should have been able to find it and put it together.
The corporate media chose not to do so.

32. George, Sr. and members of Congress |
|
George, Sr. has always tried to come off as Mr. Statesman but he's actually such a whore for oil and the Saudis. He is not the man (like his son) that he pretends to be. And when Moore tried to talk to members of Congress about having their kids enlist, you could feel their desperation. They scuttled away like cockroaches. Cowardly, two-faced cockroaches.
