2. I've already heard some interesting ideas floated....
..including that Move On and the DNC bought tickets in bulk.

Could be interesting.

8. "Block tickets"
In Knoxville, the line wrapped around the entire inside of the movie theater, and out onto the sidewalk in a pouring rainstorm at 2:30 p.m. And this is Freeper Central, the home of Instapundit Glenn Reynolds.

I didn't see any empty seats, and the audience was an interesting mix of all ages, races and genders. We took my 73 year old mother-in-law, who was very pleased with the crowd.

The Old Folks are gonna save our asses again. Hooray for the greatest generation!

3. Will it be # 1?
I don't think that makes much difference, anyway. It certainly won't change the powerful statement the movie makes. It's showing on 800+ theatres, as opposed to around 2,000 for most mass market crowd pleasers.

If it is #1, even if only for a weekend, that's phenomenal.

6. They will equate Michael with Jane Fonda
They will say it is not factual, and try to discredit it anyway they can, but for those reporters who still have some self-respect they will realize that the fourth estate has not been doing their job, and that they are at least partly responsible for pushing this rush to war in Iraq, and the blood of our young men, and the civillians are on their hands.

The Orwellean excerpt near the end of the film, how the powerful get the poor to do their sacrificing for them is haunting...

7. Today, Brooks's NYT op-ed tried to smear Moore
for telling European audiences that Americans are woefully unaware of world affairs- as though Brooks had never seen Jay Leno's Man on the Street bits. With F911's success, by Monday Brooks will have to be calling Americans names himself!

9. are you sure it will be number one?
not many regular theaters are showing it. Like sure it sold out on its opening weekend....in tiny indie-film theaters and liberals were out in full force.

It's number one as of Friday, but for how long?

11. Better to say that a 'documentary' filled the theatres it played in?
With the emphasis on documentary rather than movie.

It would be great to have some comparative statistics.

Comparing a documentary in limited theatres to a cross-country release of a movie flick is like comparing apples with bok choy. But it is going to be spun as a movie and compared to a movie to downplay it in the next few days by our propagandists in ink and in image.

12. It's the GODDAMNED liberal media, people.
They pimped this movie, don't you know? They wanted it to succeed. They are working hand-in-hand with Moore and Hollywood. They want Kerry to win.

Please, think before you post such silly topics (sarcasm off).

14. It was number 3 opening night, which is INCREDIBLE
It was only released in 860+ theaters. Unheard of for a film in limited release to do so well. Theater by theater comparison, F911 out sold Harry Potter 3 and Passion of the Christ on opening night. Don't know if it can make number one, because it's in so limited release, but I don't think a docu has EVER done this well on opening night.

18. If White Chicks does end up #1...
expect that to be the top story on EVERY newscast. It was close Friday, though I'm frankly stunned it's number one at all. Fingers crossed that it holds up through the weekend. If F911 finishes number one, just try to find that story on the news Monday.
