Hannity bravado
Following is a letter to the editor in the opinion section of The Daily Herald today.
There was a considerable amount of controversy this year surrounding Sean Hannity
hosting the yearly July 4th Freedom Festival in Provo, Utah. This letter exemplifies
why he truly had no business and a whole lot of nerve showing his face at that show. . .

Hanity bravado

Sean Hannity should not be portrayed as the patriotic voice of the Freedom
Festival as he advocates and supports military solutions to political problems.

For months he pushed for a war with Iraq, a third-world country weakened by 12
years of U. N. sanctions. He personally declined to take advantage of his
opportunity to serve in the military during wartime in Panama and Desert Storm,
but continues the drumbeat for others to make the sacrifice.

Fighting and dying is for others, not for Sean Hannity. Had he spent a few hours
experiencing the horrors of combat, he may have reconsidered his "chickenhawk"
bravado.

Charles Anderson

2. Three cheers for Charles Anderson
Hannity the punk is just another little coward bush bitch who hides behind his microphone and sucks whatever rove tells him to suck. This veteran would like to strap the punk and his kind on a C-130 and send their sorry pimply asses to baghdad so they can wave their flags. Maybe an appreciation of the constitution would pop into their little diseased brains; because they show no appreciation for the constitution today. And for any freeper monitors, IS THIS TRUTH KILLING YOU? Course you don't give a flying dog fuck that our kids are getting killed so your moron president can enrich his rich buddies.

4. I couldn't agree more, BOSSHOG. 3 cheers for Charles Anderson . . .

I happen to know that Charles Anderson is a decorated veteran of the Korean War and survivor of the Chosin Reservoir battle for which he received the Purple Heart. Hannity is a punk ass chickenhawk with a loud mouth who had no business hosting the 4th of July Freedom Festival. It is especially galling to hear the spew that comes out of the mouths of right wing talk radio bitches who managed to avoid their military opportunity because of 'anal cysts' or some such excuse while our young soldiers are coming home daily in twos and threes in body bags. They had a good example to follow in the AWOL Chimp with his 'Bring it On' attitude. Bush Lied . . . Soldiers Died. Bring our boys home.

8. This one is the worst . . . what a PUTZ . . .

Why are we so jealous of success? (Score: 0)

Do we have a problem just here in Utah? Or is the being green with envy and jealousy something that
runs its course throughout the United States?
Choose to agree or disagree with Sean Hannity, but why is it that his ability to climb the ladder of
success in this nation, which promotes capitalism and working to succeed in something, is slammed down
and not celebrated just because you might choose to disagree with the man's politics?
And as for him choosing not to serve during wartime in Panama and Desert Storm, well neither did I.
Does that make me some sort of Communist or right-wing nutcase? I seem to recall that in America we
are a land of choice and choosing and not all of us have chosen in life to be soldiers, pilots, Marines,
Coast Guard, Navy, Reserve or National Guard. Does that make all of us who like Hannity chose another
course in life that much less patriotic than you Mr. Anderson?
And before you answer yes to that let me tell you that during the years of Vietnam and my uncle who
was missing in action for more than 27 years I was spat upon many times as I collected signitures to
free the POWs and demand an accounting for the MIAs after the conflict was over. We all choose to
serve in our own way Mr. Anderson and that is what is great about America, so why is that a crime for Mr.
Hannity? Is it just that he was smart enough to climb the ladder of success and get his own radio
program and you weren't?
The former President of this nation also choose not to serve, but is that the reason I can't stand the
man? No, it's because of what he did in the Oval Office with an intern that digusts me. Sean Hannity has
chosen a life of being brave enough to express his opinion, marry and raise a family and call himself a
patriot. And to you that is not enough?
This Saturday Hannity will host a concert in New Jersey that has already seen the raising of hundreds of
thousands of dollars for the children of men and women killed in action in this most recent conflict. And
many of the proceeds of his book are also being donated to just such causes as well as much more
fundraising that has taken place on his radio program for the troops and their families.
It's a sad day in America when a man who dreamed as a child that someday he wanted to succeed as a
radio host and in that position preach patriotism, love of country, God and flag, and put on a pedistal
the men and women of our military is castigated for achieving just that which was his American Dream.
Not everyone was meant to fight and die Mr. Anderson, but that doesn't make any of us who have
chosen not to a "chickenhawk". You should be ashamed of yourself for using such strong language and
for tearing down someone who is much more for young people to look up to than some of the heroes of
the NBA, NFL, or Hollywood crowd.
By the tone of your letter Mr. Anderson I'm assuming that you served in the military. And for that I want
to tell you thank you. But don't attack someone who might not agree with you politically and who proudly
calls himself a patriot. During Vietnam those of us among the families of the POWs and MIAs would
have given anything for a radio host like Hannity. Yes, we could of used a man like Hannity back then.
