F911 and the tale of "two countries."
F 911

Got to watch the movie in two countries (seriously)

Yesterday my hubby and I went to watch it at a theater catering to the working class. There were whoops and hurrahs and aplause throughout, and you know what guys, it did not bother me one bit. Heck I joined in... at places where it was needed.

The second country as it was, well today I went with a friend to watch it at a theater catering to the well to do. There was silence, as in stone silence almost throughout the movie, though the gasps were far more audible at the truly horrific scenes. When the lights came on... I turned my eyes, and all I saw was shock. It looked as if these folks had been hit in the gut. It was visceral and it was powerful... and I think most actually started connecting the major dots in the movie.

I wondered, when we watched it last night, why Moore did not add more dots as it were. After all, for those of us who have been paying attention there was not much new in the movie, though I did connect one very subtle dot, for the LIHOP group. George's daddy left the Carlyle group meeting and was grounded in Milwakee, folks that was for one goal alone, plausible deniability. Now it was one more of them drips, drips, drips adding to that theory.

But after watching the folks in this very well to do theater seating there in shock I realized, Michael Moore could not add much more to the film without risking... information overload.

1. I agree.
I think there's less resistance to an idea if you come to the conclusion yourself instead of having it force-fed.

2. Not only that...
But Poppy was spotted playing golf in the Milwaukee suburbs on September 12. People saw him and were quite shocked.

Shit, I was glued to the TV all day!

3. Shock is good
In fact, make that one order of Shock and Awe for the well-to-do, please.

4. From their faces and demeanor
they got it, in spades.

It was amazing to watch. I thought I would have a problem watchign this for the second time... I just concentreated on... audience reaction. I thought that was also very important.

Oh and kid outside trying to get peoole registered.

I dropped on her lap the little unreported fact of when the draft is
planned... my friend, well she connected some important dots, and finally underestands why I hold the opinions I hold. But neither her, or the kid knew of the AP wire. I used the oportunity to drop the proverbial stone onto the proverbial pond. The kid is a college student... and still very naive, but at least she is getting involved. God I wish I had the time right now to do more than I have been doing... and I mean it. But trying to get a gaming company (RPGs) off the ground is taking most of my creative energy. Though much of the fluff is a social comentary on what is going. Even if I do not make a bloody red cent, if this wakes up a kid I will be happy. Though I prefer to make some money, don't get me wrong either...

5. BIG dot ...
I JUST saw the film tonight.

I thought one dot Moore should have added was Bush's response to Saddam asking if he could invade Kuwait.

The only two countries that Saddam attacked were Iran and Kuwait. Both attacks were instigated by Bushevik style foreign policy. Create a monster overseas, than take credit for putting him down.

The other think I would have like to see is a split screen in the Bush/classroom scenes to illustrate the point better. The could have superimposed the live news coverage with what Bush was doing. Show the plane hitting the towers while Bush was on his way to the school. He didn't even mention that news reporters had asked him about the crash and he responded "Yeah, thats a really bad pilot. I'll talk about it later."

Moore also did not go into the paralysis in the air defense system. Why weren't the planes scrambled??? Why weren't planes scrambled recently after repeated intrusions on DC airspace by large jets, yet a small Cessna flying near the President's ranch was intercepted by F-16s. One would think the Air Force only protects the president these days.

Also, Moore failed to mention James Bath's involvement in the BCCI scandal.

I hope we can expect an "extended version" for the DVD.

There are so many things we know about Bush. The Saudi thing is just the tip of the iceberg. But I think that this was Moore's overarching "1984" thesis.

In a way, this film is a sequel to "Bowling for Columbine" where the ultimate point wasn't about gun control, it was about the culture of fear in America. Bowling For Columbine explored the domestic aspect of the "culture of fear". Fahrenheit 9/11 covered the international aspect.

Finally, there is a LOT of 9/11 conspiracy information out there. Exactly why was everything hushed up in the days after 9/11. Why weren't investigators allowed into the WTC 7 wreckage. Why was that wreckage hastily removed from that country????

I originally thought that the 9/11 conspiracy guys were loons. But the more you look, the more it seems like an inside job. That having been said, I think Moore would have killed his credibility if he implied in any way that BUSH knew about it and was complicit. He would be laughed away if he had suggested that the buildings were "assisted" in their fall by explosives.

That is best left to other movies. Hopefully, a Kerry administration would reopen the 9/11 investigation and take the cuffs off investigators.
