"It's like diving into a pool but we don't know if there's any water in it
...." Paraphrasing Richard Holbrooke on This Week. He was speaking about the June 30th deadline we had imposed on our own, wisely or unwisely. Further, he said Allawi was in an untenable position because he has to be seen as "independent" of the Americans but at the same time, he is "dependent" on the Americans for security. It was thought-provoking, I thought.

3. John Steponallofus is a waste of airtime
Why Clinton ever gave this slimy, self-promoting little jackass such a good start in life is beyond me.

2. It's worse than that...
It's like diving into a pool that was empty the last time you checked, hoping that someone has put some water in there in the meantime...

4. The timeline doesn't really matter. We aren't giving Iraqis anything...

of substance. There isn't any such thing as handing over "sovereignty" when you're maintaining a strong military presence there for the foreseeable (and unforeseeable) future.

There will be handshakes, a couple of speeches, maybe a commemorative plaque handed to someone. And still about two U.S. soldiers a day will die, if not more. And the whore press will pretend that this is the greatest foreign policy achievement in the history of mankind.

5. There is a power vacuum with immense valuable resources....
hanging in the balance. Power does not surrender easily or without a struggle. So, you are correct in that nothing has really changed. We are still in charge of security and that is where the action is...
