F911.....oh my god....
I saw it last night. I realize at this point I'm preaching to the choir, and I'm sure I'm like the 8 billionth person to post about it.... but goddamn! I laughed, I clenched my fists in anger, I cried like a baby. But beyond that I left that theater with a profound feeling of patriotism. Patriotism that this film got made. Patriotism because I was part a crowded theater of people gave this movie a standing ovation.

I hope people don't leave this theater ever thinking "I'm moving to Canada or (insert country here). I hope they leave as I did, more determined than ever to take back this country from those who have in every way imagineable, stolen it from us.

I was also happy to hear that my father in law is planning on seeing it, even though he's going in thinking it is one sided. But he's a moderate who tends to lean republican and voted for bush and continues to give him the benefit of the doubt in some areas, even though he thinks the war was botched. I don't think this will turn him completely against bush but the best thing about the movie was that all most of it did was raise questions. "This happened. Here is the proof. Why? If there is an explanation, let's hear it. And why wasn't it covered in the media.". And he didn't let Democrats off the hook either.

The part about the 2000 election, and the black congresspersons trying to get the right to speak on the floor and not being allowed because no Senator would sign for them made me cry. Even I had no idea that happened.

Just a phenomenal movie and I wouldn't even categorize myself as a Moore fan in general although I do like some of his work.

2. Is that what was going on in Congress??
I got distracted at that point for a second and missed it, I thought they were trying to get the votes recounted in Florida or something. They were just trying to get permission to speak and not ONE senator would sign? Including Senator John Kerry? That is shamef

4. the part in congress
was the senate confirming the election. To launch an official protest you need a complaint signed by one member of the house and one member of the senate. They could not get one senator to contest the election.

22. Just an FYI - below is a link discussing the lack of support.
I don't agree with it, I think it is appalling that the Democratic party has forgotten that they are there to ensure our rights. Maybe F911 won't only be a wake up call to *&Co. Maybe the dems we have in office will realize how angry we are now that we see how chickensh** they were.

32. Was this why they "rolled over"
This is from the Readers' letters posted today at www.whatreallyhappened.com/letters

READER: That scene in the movie were House Reps kept reading the objections and kept saying that no senator has signed it but the objections could not be counted without at least ONE Senator's signature, WHERE WERE THE DEMOCRATS IN THE SENATE? The people FROM the party whose candidate was in the process of having his Presidency STOLEN by the opposition party? Why did NOT ONE Democrat sign the objections that would have benefitted the leader of their party?
One possible answer is that Gore, although a Democrat, is not among the "New Democrats". (Their names are collected on ndol.org) The New Democrats' platform reads scarily close to the PNAC mission statement. Is it possible that PNAC (neocons) and the New Democrats are partners? Did they stage a coup against their own party's leader in favor of the neocons' candidate? Now the torch is being passed on to New Democrat Kerry, whose ideology is in step with Bush's. What do you make of this?

(Interestingly enough, Hollings, the Democratic Senator who said that the war benefits Israel, is NOT on the New Democrats' member list. However, Lieberman, also a Senator at the time and who also DID NOT SIGN any of the objections, is a member. Was he maybe the New Dems and neocons' insurance in case Gore had gotten the presidency? Gore was running because a vice president always runs - but he wasn't one of their men.)

3. Not quite the 8 billionth to post, but one among many. And a good post
it is. Why not sift out the personal family stuff (so you don't upset anyone near and dear) and make this into a letter to the editor of a couple newspapers in your area?

Preach beyond the choir. Do LTEs and help inspire the curious fence sitters in the public to see the film. Let your neighbors know how much you realized you love this country after seeing the film. Make it cool & patriotic to be liberal in your 'hood for the Fourth of July.

Real Americans stand up for freedom. They do not throw tomatoes at people buying tickets for a documentary!

13. Good! Put on your flag pin, wear red, white, and blue and stand tall
It is our country and we are liberals. If some group doesn't like that, they are denying the concepts of freedom and liberty this nation was founded on. Let them know that you recognize that fact. They are the ones who hate America. We stand to defend it.

Welcome to the REAL no-spin zone, neocons! Like the movie from a few years ago, it is Independencd Day - the day we take it back.

Proud to be an American.
Fan of the Dixie Chicks.
In favor of the rights of gays to marry.
Too cool to be the neocon's fool!

If anybody had the soundtrack from the movie Hair, there is a song on there about "Crazy for the red whit and blue" The lyrics were great then and greater now. That song needs to get airtime.

'...cuz I look different,
you think i'm subversive?
... my heart beats true
for the Red White & Blue"

great song. we need to dust if off and play if for our kids.

7. yes, it was The Black Caucus
The only true heroes in the whole damn legislative body at that time. Not one person stepped up to help them keep the moran from his illegal tenancy in the White House.

I recall watching it as it happened. It ripped my heart out.

To this day I find it incredible that not one senator--not one!--could be found to sign. How ashamed they should be.

Michael Moore is a hero and true American patriot and when he started his movie with this scene, he paid tribute to other true heroes and patriots who serve in our government.

18. Daschle's days are numbered
but do you really want to vote out every single Senator?

I was royally pissed that they didn't do anything but remember this was 4 years ago. If they knew what was going to happen I bet they would have fought. At least Kerry or Wellstone or someone would have signed. And they didn't know that 2 million votes were thrown out or that Florida's voter rolls were purged. That came out later and very quietly.

Daschle made a deal with the Repugs -- we won't contest the electors if you will give us half the resources. Sold us out.

let's get candidates in the senate who care about the people; or am I being incredibly naive to think that the Dems aren't part of the problem too? Why I label myself as an independent. Sheesh!

28. Yes, vote them out
for trying to be diplomatic by not signing a pointless and, at best, symbolic protest that would do nothing but further divide a country. Damn those Democrats for trying to take the high rode and unify the country again.

11. I was crying for more than half of the film. When the screen
goes blank for several moments, and you hear the sounds only of 9/11, I instantly began to cry. PTSD that will follow me all my life, I guess. Sheesh! I'm sniffling NOW just thinking about it.

Then, the scenes of the dead and dying, injured. The multiple-amputees that Bush doesn't want to approve increased funding for.
The Iraqi baby thrown in the truck.

The patriotic woman, collapsing in front of the White House, oh my God how that hit me hard.
I was born in Washington, DC, and lived nearby most of my life. The White House was always MY house, OUR house, and instilled such a feeling of pride. In Moore's shot, I was hit with a sense of shame.
So powerful.
I could barely speak for hours after leaving the film.

19. That scene was horrific, but even more horrific is they were trained to
think that way. It's all a game. I think Moore did a good job showing how, as time wore on, these kids realized it wasn't a game. (Except for the sick little bastards playing with a dead man's penis. Really does make you wonder what's happening to our society.)

26. and pilots play Wagner during bombing missions
Hitler's favorite composer. Disturbing isn't it? That's war.

It's sounds awful to laymen like you and I but that's what militaries do, all militaries not just us. If the soldiers thought rationally and had images of families being torn apart than they wouldn't be able to fight. They have to get into that kind of attitude in order to kill people.

What really fucks this up is that the same soldiers are occupying that country. It's hard to make the transition from hating and killing Iraqis to liking and protecting Iraqis. There is extreme stress and tension running through everyone in that country, Americans and Iraqis.

Those soldiers are in a horrible position. Desertion could mean jailtime and cowardice in front of the enemy is punished by death. No wonder some of them are freaking out and abusing people and what not. And at least one Repubican soldier became an active Democrat.

"This happened. Here is the proof. Why? If there is an explanation, let's hear it. And why wasn't it covered in the media."

This is what I got from the movie and as mad as I am about Bush, I'm even more mad at the complicity in our corporate media that allowed him to get away with these things. Things we never thought would be possible in our country because the press would protect us. The press let us down. This is why they are protesting this movie so much. This is why they are nitpicking the movie. I heard a guy from Vanity Fair on CNN this morning ask why didn't the press pick Colin Powell's UN testimony apart they way they're picking this movie apart. If someone had simply done that, we wouldn't be in the mess we're in today. This fear of losing "access" the media has today has got to stop.

Politicians need the media, it's not the other way around.

edited for clarity
