Reuters: F9/11 #1 Movie In America!!! |
|
Beats out all the rest. $21.8 million in tickets sold. #2 was White Chicks, which opened in 3 times the theaters. Freepies can't be happy today. http://movies.yahoo.com/movies/feature/weekendboxofficer.html

2. Yeah, I loved what MM said in response, "I'd like to thank all the |
|
right wingers who threatened Disney not to carry it and theater owners not to show it. It really helped make the movie successful" or something to that effect.
Hey, FReeps, another great job! Well done!

I hope Lion's Gate sees fit to print some more copies and get this on more screens. Hopefully, the awesome turnout will convince some of the chains that were hesitant to go ahead and show it.
Where I'm at, the closest theatre is Kerasotes in Schererville Indiana. It's about a 45-minute drive. It would be better if some of the local theatres would pick it up so others could go see it.
It's an IMPORTANT film. And I could probably get more people to see it if it was closer!!!!!

A poster in LBN highlighted this quote from the article:
"'This is a testament to Michael Moore. His voice resonates across the country in what I think we can all now fairly describe as America's movie,' said Tom Ortenberg, the president of distribution at Lions Gate Films, which backed the movie."
Folks, this is just amazing, that this film, a documentary on a limited number of screens, topped the weekend box office --

6. I hope everybody's been calling theaters, asking when it will show. |
|
Contacting the management, emailing the owners, etc. Let them know they are missing out on a heck of a lot of dough.

7. Awesome news, but now I have a mea culpa to make |
|
Somebody on this site (don't remember his/her username) hypothesized that F9/11 would be #1 on it's opening weekend. I told them that there would be no way that could happen b/c it was showing in so few theatres. Turns out that he/she was right! Sorry to whomever it was!
