p.s. I have already seen it in the theater and plan on doing so again, and suggest you do the same, especially if you haven't already. Seeing it in the theater is better than watching the mpeg, but with the mpeg you can pause and rewind.

5. It was likely a prank

I've seen it done before. Some hackers got into the RIAA site a while back and allowed them to host the new Linkin Park CD a week before it's release.

Most likely it was some kids pranking around. Freepers are too stupid to hack computers.

I wouldn't host the files yourself if I were you. Very illegal, and you can be held liable for some pretty steep fines.

Anyone who wants the download bad enough can go on eMule, Kazaa or Direct Connect and get it. You can also find verified file sites like Share Reactor as well.

I think this is designed to put a damper on attendance - and that has two important negative consequences:

1.) It makes the film seem less successful that it is.

2.) The act of attending the film, like attending a protest, aides in making people feel less isolated and powerless.

If you must post, at least wait a few weeks.

I was awake in the wee hours of this morning, trying to download the .mpg's. I only got about 2% of the files when it just stopped crunching.

12. 320x240 29.97 fps, 172kb/s, but the audio is scratchy in some spots.

I don't think it was done with a camcorder in a theater, as some have suggested, or there would be some audience noise in the background. The occasional audio hiss in this copy is likely due to the compression they used for it.

People who see it will see only a poor imitation, and there is no way it can have the impact of the real thing.

When the DVD is released Moore may want to encourage unrestricted duplication (like "Uncovered"). I hope so. But for now I would let Moore decide on release timing and strategy.
