Farentheit 9/11 Sold out in Raleigh, NC all weekend. Drove to two theaters
Edited on Sun Jun-27-04 07:08 PM by KoKo01
(been driving for over an hour) checking out our two theaters showing it on opposite sides of town.

Our Art Cinema had to add 2 Matinee's each day Saturday and Sunday and all are sold out even at night. (they don't have weekend matinee's so this if 4 extra showing this weekend. Wouldn't let me buy tickets for tomorrow ahead of time.

The "Multiplex" had it sold out all day and night and out of 8 movies they are running only Farenheit is sold out!

Unbelievable! How many of us are being turned away? Adding showings?

I don't know when I'll get to see it. :-( But, Great News!

1. I saw it yesterday at 4:15
at the Rialto Theater. I got there an hour before the show and they had 175 tickets left so don't give up - not sure if it sold out but it was packed.

8. I'm going to try the Rialto Matinee tomorrow! Matinee's seem to be
better from what I'm reading here. Rialto person said they added the two
matinee's both days, so that's probably how you got it...I wish I'd started earlier but figured Sunday night folks wouldn't be there because they have to work next day...mistake

2. There was a mob scene in Columbus, OH
I was visiting friends, and we went to a Friday matinee showing. The theater was mostly filled, but not sold out. We were shocked upon leaving the theater, though, because the theater was forced to open the film in a second theater across the hall (this was a large AMC). The line was 3-4 people deep, stretching from the doors of the theaters down a long staircase, along a hallway, out the main theater, into the mall, and out onto the street!

We brought two fence sitters with us who went in thinking Bush* was basically a good guy, and came out seething with rage. They can't wait to vote for Kerry now!

3. Good crowd at a 1:30 show in Charlotte
At least 90% full. Applause at least three times during the movie and plenty of jeers for smirky. It was good to see here in Bushy's bible belt.

5. Durham NC: 1006 seats in the theater it is playing & SOLD OUT!
Edited on Sun Jun-27-04 08:06 PM by Lex
Moore asked specifically that The Carolina Theater in Durham NC host his movie and they were more than happy to do so! He was here a few months ago at the The Full Frame Documentary Festival. Also, Moore asked that pictures be taken of the opening night crowd at The Carolina, and I understand that happened.
---------------------------

Durham:

"Fahrenheit 9/11 opened at The Carolina Theatre of Durham, downtown Durham's only historic movie palace to TWO solds-out shows with crowds of avid fans. 1006 fans per show clapped and cheered and gave the film two standing ovations. We had to add an additional show at 11:30 pm to accommodate everyone standing in line in the rain and scorching heat and humidity."--Elisabeth Branigan, The Carolina Theatre.

9. I went early to the matinee
in Bloomington, Indiana. I think it sold out.

It was wonderful to see so many people there.

It seemed to be the only movie that people were going to. :)

11. heh, heh, heh.
On one hand, some of my corporate dealings tell me I gotta show Snow White and 69 dwarfs to 30 people in the audience. That and four other flicks that barely cover my costs. I got the christian coalition threatening me, telling me to stop showing the 11 movie, or they will start to boycott mois and my business. Freepin christian bigots, but they buy a lot of movies.

On the other hand, this damned documentary is selling out, and my e-mail is full AND i can't get out of my freepin office because the damned lines are too long.

Hmm. I can open three other theaters with 11 or I can keep Benji and the 100 spotted mongrels at a loss.

Hey, I can make money off this flick. I wonder what I will do.

No shit, sherlock.
