Any Post-F 9/11 Film Discussions at Your Cinema?
I saw Fahrenheit today and truly enjoyed it--here in central Ohio, it played to a half-packed house (it sold out earlier in the weekend) and received a standing ovation.

What particularly intrigued me was what happened after we cleared the theatre. In the lobby and en route to the parking lot, everyone in the theatre collectively talked about the movie, its message, and politics. As we meandered to our cars, dozens of people--total strangers--were chatting as though they were best friends. I even spoke with an older gentleman who said, "It's nice knowing there are others who feel like you."

Have you experienced anything like this? I have to admit, I've never left a movie where everyone who saw it just started to talk about it with others in the audience. It was wonderful.

1. Yes...
We actually met at a restaurant across the street afterwards. While it was mostly the "regular" crowd of us Democrats, there were a few new faces who had came after we were advertising before the show that we were meeting after.

3. They were holding a discussion in the theater after the film Friday night
The Avon Theater only had one showing Friday at 7pm and before the film started, the owner got on a mic and encouraged everyone to stay after the film to discuss the content.

When he first got the mic he said, "I see we have alot of people here who still care about free speech!" Much applause!

We had dinner plans after the film so we couldn't stay but I was impressed with the little small town theaters attempt to expose this administration!

4. Other people were, but Mrs. Cat and I were too upset to talk.
I'm still pretty emotional about it.

There was a lot of clapping, a lot of crying, and a lot of calls to "do something."

I hope we can.

5. I heard lots of
talk of what country to move to! But then I am here in TX where things are bit scarier.

I also saw a lot of people who looked socked in the gut, which makes me think they weren't completely anti-bush when they walked in....

6. Most were a bit stunned coming out of the Easton AMC

in Columbus. The group I went with talked only a little when leaving the theater, but more and more as we drove back to my friend's studio. My friend, his fence sitting and newly transformed assistant and I stayed up until well passed midnight putting together a comic book for the San Diego ComicCon (which normally would have been the topic of conversation). Both of them couldn't stop talking about F-9/11. The assistant said he felt as shocked as he did after 9/11, and couldn't wait to vote for Kerry!
