Che Guavera movie previewed at F 9/11 ! |
|
Prior to the showing of Farhenheit 9/11 last night here in suburban Atlanta they previewed a biographical film about Che Guavera. This is unbelievable in the districts that brought you Newt Gingrich and Bob Barr.
Isn't this an amazingly different place to be in than it was a year ago? A year ago Dixie Chicks hatred was in full flower, if you dared question the war you were a "anti-American" and everyone was running to the local park to some "Rally for America (Bush)".
Now look at the last week -- Bill Clinton's book comes out and he follows it with dazzling TV appearances, Michael Moore's movie is #1 at the box office, and now a Che Guavera movie? Wow...

It was advertised in Harahan, Louisiana too before the showing. I mean, sure, a LOT of movies were advertised -- they must have had 20 minutes worth of trailers packed in there. But still...

9. It was a big hit at the 2004 Sundance Film Festival |
|
and got snapped up for national distribution later this year. It's an adaptation of a journal written by Che when he was 23 years old. He and a fellow medical student decided to cycle across Argentina, Chile, Brazil and Peru on their way to do their residency at a leper clinic. One reviewer said it's a story of two friends whose lives ran parallel for awhile. From the preview I saw and review I read, looks like a very good film. I'm looking forward to seeing it. And you are right, it has a Brazilian director.

12. The guy playing Guevara is the same Mexican actor from |

Amores Perros, Y Tu Mama Tambien and a bunch of others. He's a great actor. From the looks of the preview he seems to be able to do a good Argentinian accent.
