On Fox - Dale Earnhardt Jr. told his entire crew to go see Fahrenheit 9/11, and that everybody of any political persuasion should see it.

Much too much spin is being thrown at this. 'Little E' just said 'go see Fahrenheit 9/11". That is all. He did not say throw Bush out. He just thought it was a good movie.

Dale Jr. is a bit of a maverick. But he is not going to do something that's going to completely alienate many of his fans. I don't think the guy is stupid. The only time I've seen him be political is when he supported Jeb Bush, but Jeb did a lot personally for the Earnhardt family when Dale Sr. was killed. Hell, if I were Little E, I'd like Jeb Bush if he protected my father's autopsy records.

The guy's got a huge fan base, and is perhaps the most popular person in NASCAR. He is not going to rock that boat by being controversial. And he's not going to make his sponsors sweat at all.

Don't read too much into this. All Dale Jr. did is make a movie recommendation. It doesn't mean he should be Kerry's running mate.

Though it is cool that he liked it.

I don't expect, or even particularly want, celebrities to urge a particular partisan action such as "Throw Bush out." But urging people to see a film that will help them make up their own minds is exactly the message I like to see spread around.

That Dale Earnhardt, Jr. would say this is incredibly positive for our side. No, he didn't say "throw out Bush" in so many words, but let's be realistic here. F911 is an indictment of George W. Bush and his policies.

Not to mention, as someone who lived in the Earnhardt's home state for 11 years, I don't exaggerate when I say that those people are gods there. If the Carolinas had a royal family, it would be the Earnhardts. And it's not just the Carolinas either. The Earnhardts are folk heros throughout the entire bible belt.

If Little E is even somewhat on our side, it would be a crushing blow to the Bush campaign.
