What happened to Sibel Edmonds testimony ? Ashcroft "gag order"?
Edited on Mon Jun-28-04 11:58 AM by cthrumatrix
She was suppose to be on 60 Minutes...but was scratched a few weeks ago.

Her previous testimony was a major "hit" to shrubco.

1. the case was indefinitely postponed. Nevertheless she is still gagged.
pending the outcome of a lawsuit against Ashcroft, no doubt.

here's the latest bulletins snipped from Nexis:

"The Washington Times/UPI (6/28, Waterman) reports, "The federal government's secrecy watchdog is conducting an inquiry into whether Attorney General John Ashcroft acted properly in classifying information relating to a lawsuit brought by a whistleblower from the FBI's translation unit. Sibel Edmonds, an FBI contract translator who reported mismanagement, inefficiency and serious security problems, is suing the Justice Department for violating her First Amendment rights by quashing her claims against them with the rarely invoked 'state secrets privilege.' ..."

(AP 6/23)
"A watchdog group sued Attorney General John Ashcroft on Wednesday for classifying previously public documents pertaining to a whistleblower's claims of security lapses in the FBI's translator program.

Citing national security, Ashcroft recently classified documents related to the case of Sibel Edmonds, a former linguist at the FBI. The lawsuit charged that reclassifying materials that had previously been in the public

domain is illegal and unconstitutional.

The suit was filed in federal court by the Washington-based Project on Government Oversight, a nonprofit group that has been following the case."

Edmonds did speak with Daniel Ellsberg after the June 14th hearing (where they postponed) However no source listed in Nexis covered their statements. I read on the web somewhere, that they said they would continue the fight to be heard.
