2. I like Byron Dorgan because he's a democrat from North Dakota
And like all the dems from big bad red states (Baucus, Daschle, Johnson, Conrad, Nelson, Edwards, etc), he doesn't vote with DU on all the issues, but he is on OUR SIDE more often than most would care to acknowledge.

3. DU isn't a single-minded monolith...
it is a forum.

Except more liberal.

5. Oh I agree
But I think that we can both agree that the median on DU is the left of the median in the DNC as a whole.

I get sick and tired of people berating good dems like Baucus, Dorgan, Daschle etc because they aren't as liberal as the DU median, while they IGNORE the fact that they're from AT BEST leans Bush states. I fully understand the frustration with more conservative dems like Lieberman who are from liberal states, but people need to cut the more conservative dems from Bush states a little slack.

7. Group-think is always cause for concern.
Regardless of political bent.

6. I don't know what we're celebrating today
But I've seen Dorgan pounding Bush about the economy, and he was awesome! A fabulous combination of facts, figures, and oratory.

So, sign me up for his fan club. :bounce:
