WP: Bush says he doesn't really care.
WP's White House Briefing blog:

http://www.washingtonpost.com/ac2/wp-dyn/A11994-2004Jun28?language=printer

(snip)
Asked about his personal lack of popularity in Europe, Bush said this weekend that he didn't really care.

Here's the transcript of Bush's joint press conference in Ireland.

"Q Thank you. Mr. President, you don't appear to be a very popular fellow here in Europe. Do you have any explanation for your poor poll standings? And is that something that should concern Americans?

"PRESIDENT BUSH: Well, Hutch, I must confess that the first polls I worry about are those that are going to take place in early November of this year. I -- listen, I care about the image of our country. We've got a country that we've just got two-and-a-half trillion dollars worth of trade, or $2.2 trillion worth of trade with the EU. Obviously, something positive is happening.

"I don't like it when the values of our country are -- are misunderstood because of the actions of some people overseas. As far as my own personal standing goes, Hutch, my job is to do my job. I'm going to do it the way I think is necessary. I'm going to set a vision, I will lead, and we'll just let the chips fall where they may."
(snip)
****
Those aren't chips. Those are my fellow human beings.

1. I saw a news clip of his saying that last part
and I just couldn't believe it! Isn't he over there trying to get support for his efforts?

His arrogance never ceases to amaze me.

3. Yes but Bush has a different perspective
Being a renagade Lobster Man (of the Fifth Iteration) from Rigal VII, he has kind of a hard time relating to human beings. I mean he wears the make up and all, but he's always not sure he fits in. I mean that's why he keeps making up nicknames as a sort of pathetic way of getting over his Lobster problems.

That's also why he is so pro-blastocyte, he sees them as kindred spirits.

9. Yeah, they're always "gonna" do this and "gonna" do that.
Three and a half years into his term and he's still talking about what he's GOING to accomplish. I wish just once some spaniel journalist would ask what he's done so far.

"Course he's just go into that circular reasoning thing, "My job is to do my job." Jeebus!!!

7. "I care about the image ..." And then * reminds them of the money
He just doesn't get it. He thinks it's all about money and nothing else matters.

Pathetic.

8. He might care about this
http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=114x9459

A record current account deficit of $144 Billion must be financed by someone, like perhaps the countries of "Old Europe"?

10. Idiot. That 2.2 trillion dollars in trade is despite
the chimp, not because of him.

12. "Well, Hutch . . ." "Lemme tell ya . . . Hutch"
That easy familiarity from Stupidhead to his posse of bitches is what they all crave so much. To be called "Hutch" or "Stretch" or "Baldy" by this simpering dolt is so important to the media whores that they have sold out our nation, aided and abetted the squandering of our national prestige and treasury, and killed thousands the world over.

Thanks media whores. Your craven, desperate, pathetic need to gain this corrupt adminstration's favor has sentenced the American public to hard labor for a decade to overcome.

13. "There is America, and there is Texas" Phase II...
...and the big concern, as it has been all along and will be right up until November, is how much of "middle America" is still sleeping peacefully while all of this is going on.

We live in an era in which the Vice President of the United States can stand on the floor of the Senate and tell a fellow politician to go fuck himself, after which the Vice President not only feels no remorse but makes a point of going on Rupert Murdoch's little propaganda network and telling the world that saying it made him FEEL better, followed by little round-cheeked Scott McClelland informing the press that it's a non-issue to Bush and it will NOT be dealt with.

Middle America reads the last paragraph of the article quoted above, thinks "Bush is a strong leader," votes Bush, and goes back to bed for another 4 years.

That's the REAL challenge, the REAL obstacle, and I believe the root of Bush's arrogance. THIS is what he's depending on. Our work is to prove him wrong.

You idiot, the problem is that the Irish are understanding the selfish values of our country perfectly because of the actions of "some people" right here in the US.
