Nader calls Michael Moore a "giant beach ball" -- classy! |
|
This is in LBN right now. Nader whines about not being invited to the F/911 premiere but freeperishly takes a parting shot at MM's weight. When asked about his statement, Nader says "He's over 300 pounds. He's like a giant beach ball." http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/articles/A8713-2004Jun26.html "We are more saddened than angered by this," a Moore associate said, noting the particular pathos in Nader's missing invitation to the movie premiere. "It is just sad."Here is a link to the actual statement: http://votenader.org/why_ralph/index.php?cid=83 This clinches it. Nader has totally gone off the deep end.

6. Yeah he does, but he's looking more like Lyndon LaRouche everyday. |
|
A nutball perennial candidate who has a select few followers.
Pretty soon they'll be setting up tables at DMV's and airports.

13. I was thinking that yesterday |
|
that Nader and LaRouche have a similar "Everyone else is a crook" mentality, while being far from clean themselves. LaRouche has the strangest, most cult-like followers, though.

4. It's crap like this that makes most of us wary of Nader.... |
|
He is very puffed up with his own sense of importance and is EXTREMELY thin-skinned and takes everything as a slight.
Quite honestly, I suspect he has psychological issues.

5. I used to respect Nader. |
|
I think we're getting to know him a little too well. Nobody stands up well under constant spotlight. Flaws, which we all have, start to show up.
He's done a lot of good for the country, and his point is basically correct: the Corporations control both parties. However, the Republican side of corporate power is much harsher than the Dem side. He needs to help Kerry, and then work on the local levels to change the country, if that's what he wants to do.

11. I think we're just beginning to see the "true Nader" |
|
I'll admit it -- I voted for Ralph in 2000. Of course, I also live in NY, which I knew would go safely for Gore. Much of Nader's anti-corporate, anti-militarist rhetoric resonated with me, and I did hold the belief that both major parties were too heavily influenced by corporate interests, and that they didn't really represent the "regular American".
I am still extremely distrustful of power, I still think that corporations hold too much power, and I still think that both parties are pretty much beholden to them overall. But you couldn't get me to vote for Nader this time around, even with a gun to my head.
I mean, the guy talks all about unions -- yet he bent over backwards to crush union organizing within his own organization. He refuses to listen to EVERYBODY who pleads with him not to run this year, and then offers up cockamamie statements accusing them of "inhibiting democratic process". Despite evidence to the contrary, he STILL says that he'll pull as many votes from the Right as from the Left.
IMHO, all we're beginning to see is the classical egotist that Ralph Nader really is. I'm not going to discount the many good things he did in the past for the consumer movement. But it's clear that he's so self absorbed, so consumed with his own fringe celebrity, that he's willing to sacrifice anything and everything to solidify and extend that celebrity.

supporting Nader in 2000 (who by the way owns stock in Haliburton and other companies he lobbys against) but he reveals himself more every single day.
I am thankful I talked 3 of 4 family members out of voting for him in 2000. Gore was a great candidate, and would have made an excellent President.
I do like some of Ralphs rhetoric, but it seems so disengenuine today.
If he gets one vote from any educated person, I'll be amazed!

Fat people know they're fat, they don't need Ralph Nader to inform them. In case he hasn't noticed, dieting/exercise for people genetically programmed to be heavy takes a lot of time and energy that Moore may not exactly have free at the moment. I happen to think what he's doing is a bit more important than jogging.

15. Remember strange letter from Nader to Moore |
|
Nader did a strange letter to Moore asking him to come back to the Naderites now that Wes Clark was out of the race. I thought that the letter was bizarre at the time. It seems that Nader has some fixation on Michael Moore.
