F911 Buzz Among Ordinary Americans

I was surprised while shopping this afternoon to overhear ordinary people discussing Fahrenheit 9/11 like it was a big deal. These folks were absolutely middle-of-the-road in the ages, their economic status, their outlook on life. And they were excited about the movie.

Favorite scenes I heard mentioned: Bush saying "Watch this drive" and Bush sitting there reading a children's book in the middle of the attack.

This film has impact.

7. Nondescript Class Markers

I can't describe what makes a person ordinary, because if that were the case, that person would no longer be ordinary. They'd have some kind of characteristic that could be described, something that would make them out of the ordinary.

They were middle aged and middle class, completely nondescript. It's possible I'm totally mistaken about them. And yes, I've judged them by their appearances and their speech.

I can't describe nondescript, but I know it when I see it.

What's more, I had one of those ordinary persons tell me about the film. He went to great length explaining some scenes he'd seen on TV and news articles he had read about it. It was big in his mind. I smiled and encouraged him to continue. He started telling me more of the background and got stuck a few times until I filled in the blanks for him. He looked at me quizzically and asked if I'd seen the film. "No" I replied, "but I read the paper a bit". Hey, these ordinary people are opening their eyes and ears. Hooray! Thank you M.M.

5. I work in a large telemarketing center, and a friend told me today

that one of the senior managers saw it and wanted to play it 24/7 in the break room. He is NOT a democrat. I was amazed!

just to see what the hype is about. that's good enough for me. F911 just needs to plant the seed. These people are smart enough after that.
