2. The key to understanding Wal-Mart is to follow the flow of money
Ultimately, my hypothesis is that when Wal-Mart comes:

Employee wages decrease

A larger percentage of profits leave the local economy

Local residents actually spend more money due to highly effective advertising

Employee benefits decrease

Manufacturing/distributor wages/profits decrease

Average quality/funtionality(sp?) of purchased product decreases-as lifespan decreases, spending increases at the consumer level

3. All of the above
I'm now firmly in the "Won't step foot into one" camp. For awhile I would go there for things that I needed and couldn't find elsewhere and feel guilty. No more. They aren't getting a cent of my money.

5. Not getting to me.
Just does my heart good to know that most DUers are on to Wal-Mart and not falling for the pro-Wal-Mart spin.

7. I did that too late
Now I find the guy doesn't consider himself a Democrat, but rather an "anti-Republican", whatever that's supposed to mean.
