Why can't Melvin read?

Just got a knock on the door. Let me tell you about my door. I've talked about it before. I have a regular wooden door and then a "glass" door as I'm sure most of you do. On the glass door is a sign I made up. On the sign is a graphic of a smiling man and woman holding a Bible. Around them is a circle with a slash through it. Underneath that, it says in big, bold letters "NO SOLICITORS." Under that it says in equally bold letters,

This includes but is not limited to
Girl Scout Cookie Sellers
Home Security Sales People
Paper Deliverers
And especially anyone wanting to tell me why their religion is better than mine*

The * applies to some small footnotes at the bottom of the sign that reads:
* Jehovah Witnesses are exceptions only if they're prepared to talk about Deuteronomy 18:20-22 (false prophets) in relation to certain predictions that your church elders have made that did not come true.
** Mormons pretending to be Jehovah Witnesses will prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.

ANYWAY, Melvin just knocked on my door. Melvin was able to blurt out that he was doing something for a scholarship program. I raised one eyebrow, looked at him through the glass then looked over to the sign then back to him. Melvin got the hint.

You know I've always heard that SOME high school kids aren't able to read at their grade level. I guess Melvin proved it.
