Poll question: if you vote for a resolution
that gives an obviously militaristic Republican president the green light to invade another nation, should he feel the need to order that invasion, can that accurately be described as a vote for war?

1. Yes
Absolutely no doubt about it. Any Congresscritter who voted for the IWR is just as guilty as the slimeball occupying the White House.

10. Dem or Rep..they are all seasoned liars
The Dems for 3 yrs built a case against this bastard, so they were covering their asses with their vote for the resolution knowing that GW was trigger happy after 9/11. They are covering their asses...plain and simple!

3. Even though I voted yes, I'll clarify
If a retired school teacher and grandmother could figure it out, I don't know why those bozos who voted for IWR couldn't. It was as plain as the nose on your face-as was what the consequences would be if we invaded Iraq. It breaks my heart to know that I was right and that, despite protests, letters to the editor, etc. etc, I couldn't stop the madness.

5. I Don't Know
I seem to remember that at first Dubya didn't even want to go to Congress for authority to go into Iraq. Finally, he decided to do it. He seemed to take the same attitude with Congress that he did w/the U.N. ("I'm going to do it no matter what you say")

So, what would have happened if Congress had called his bluff and said no?

6. he wouldn't have had
the ability to call the attack "bipartisan". That's what would have happened.

7. On The Other Hand...
Had the mission been a success and WMD found, Democrats would have looked really stupid. By voting for it, but then claiming they were't really for it they are just playing politics.

Something is very wrong here, why can't Dems mount a good attack/counter attack against the Repugnantcans?

In 2002, the GOP picked up seats. Normally in a president's mid-term election his party loses seats. Remember 1994?

8. well, ok

We're still several months out from the election. Don't be surprised if WMDs turn up some time in October, quite out of thin air.

There's a time to hit the campaign trail, but there's also a time to govern.

Fear.

9. Politics, indeed
And, the fencesitters and non-voters can't be blamed for  and saying, "What the heck, they're all a bunch of game-players, anyway, so what difference does it make?"

Integrity.

Politicians, especially DEMs, shouldn't leave home without it.
