F9/11 Sold out all evening shows at the Esquire in Chicago on a MONDAY!
. . .just so you know if a movie sells out all of its showings on a Monday evening that is really saying something. I am not sure if this will continue throughout the week, but this is a very very good sign.!

1. thats great, but did you hear about Disney's response to F9/11?
I wondered what they would do in response to Moore.

They're putting up a movie to combat it evidently.

2. Yep, people are just going to rush right out and see it too.
<sarcasm off>

It will be interesting to compare the box office of the Disney movie and F-9/11.

LOL LOL LOL LOL

3. Good luck to them
To the big fucking rat, et al.

Really, good luck.

But I don't know why folks would pay ten bucks for the same horseshit they get for free on TV every damn day of the bloody week.

4. Hmmm...
"It was an amazing set of vignettes of stories of different Americans and their pursuit of passion. Each individual was able to explore their passion because of the freedom this country has given us."

Pathetic that anybody sees the two movies as mutually exclusive.

12. In fact..
that description could essentially apply to Fahrenheit 9/11 as well. Moore is able to explore his passion for liberty and human rights, the news media is able to explore their passion for fearmongering, freepers are able to explore their passion for assaulting soldier's grieving parents and Bush is able to explore his passion for.. golf. Isn't freedom great?

11. Why would that movie even be considered "combatting" Moore?
Is Moore against people expressing themselves creatively? No. Does he argue against the freedom in this country? Hardly; he seems to want more of it. In fact, F9/11 ends with a sad and beautiful statement on the freedom in this country, generally provided by the working class through both its labor and its participation in the military. A statement about what's beautiful in America is not a "counterweight" to Moore's film at all. Moore's film is about what is beautiful in this country, and about the killers who are trying to destroy it.

5. Seattle's Meridian 16, too
There's still seats for the 10:30, but it looks like that will sell out shortly. They've got three screens running for F9/11. Great news!

6. He who gets to laugh last.....
will probably laugh the best. Meaning: Moore's film will keep earning $Millions$ for quite some time yet. And the other movie...Heart and Soul?

I don't feel threatened by this silly little "Hallmark" movie. What a joke. I'm still waiting to go see 9/11, still sold out. I'll try again Wednesday. As a matter of fact, I'll go TWICE so the theater can earn extra money off me.

I'm willing to do that.

7. In this part of Texas
It was not the wild success that it was in other parts of the country.
I saw it saturday evening and the theater had about two dozen people in it.

15. What can I say?
Just stating a fact. I went to a 7:30 PM showing. I don't know how it was earlier in the day. That was how it was at the showing I went to.

Conservatism is pretty well entrenched in this part of Texas. It was pretty much how I expected. I'm sure it was a rousing success in Austin. But here it is Skoal and pick-up country.

14. The real irony of 9/11.............
Edited on Mon Jun-28-04 11:25 PM by Roy
The real irony is that if the so called media was presenting unbias news, minimal investigative journalism, and a propensity for asking the questions americans wanted asked. Michael Moore would probably have had to get a REAL job (as Bush suggested), for there would be no need nor market for a F9/11 documentary, cuz probably no war, or Bush.

The last laugh is on the media, americans get their country back, and Michael Moore will get a hernia hauling $$$ to bank.
