War Losing Support In Alabama, But Bush Still Approved By 59%
MOBILE (AP) — A poll last week found that fewer Alabama residents now believe that the U.S. invasion of Iraq has made the world a safer place compared to how they felt shortly after the invasion last year.

Less than half the 407 people surveyed in the Mobile Register-University of South Alabama poll said the war has made the world a safer place. That's a difference from a similar poll taken in April 2003, after the successful invasion of Iraq, when more than three-quarters of respondents said the invasion had made the world safer.

In the telephone poll last week, 43 percent of respondents said they now feel the world is a safer place, while 49 percent believe it is not safer now. Eight percent of those polled said they didn't know.

3. Mobile is one of the most conservative cities in Alabama. As someone....
...who has lived in Alabama for the last 14 years, I consider this poll to be a very positive indicator.

2. Which war is that, the Civil War between the states?
...God, it is about time. Will we have to wait another 140 years to get evolution taught in the classrooms in Alabama?

I was taught evolution in Alabama public schools.

5. Who needs information?
It only gets in the way when it comes time to play "Let's Make Fun of the Rednecks" again.

9. Thanks!
But let's not get all angry or anything. After all, sanctimonious twits have got to have their fun somehow.

8. You got that right...
...it seems to be a recurring theme among some here, sadly - the mirror opposite answer to Freepers constantly making fun of "Latte-drinkin' libruls." And I don't mean that as a compliment. Freepers don't know any better - those of us at DU should.

7. Not correct. Evolution is still taught in Alabama classrooms...
...but there is a sticker that is placed on the textbooks indicating that evolution is "controversial theory".

As long as they continue to teach evolution in Alabama classrooms, I have no particular issue with the sticker other than it being extremely embarrassing.
