Go Away Recruiter Lady! I already told you, you can't have my son! |
|
she was here three months ago, an attractive black lady in an army uniform walked up to my door and placed an envelope on the door for my son who is 20. that first time, i just glared at her and didn't answer the door.
she was back this morning, and carrying a white business size envelope. i stopped her half way down the steps, and said, 'just go away lady, if my son wants to join the army and fight in this stupid fucking war, he knows right where the recruiting office is!'
i have grown tired of these people, and pissed off too. they stopped calling here finally, after a year of calls. now they are bringing something in an envelope for my son. fuck them.
if he wants to join the military, fine, i'll support him. but if he doesn't, that's fine too.
just try a draft warpigs. just try it.

I thought it was just me.
Hard as it may be to believe not EVERYTHING is about racism or sexism or homophobia nowadays.

8. Sounds like the conversation my dear sweet departed Mother had |
|
Edited on Tue Jun-29-04 09:04 AM by Dolomite
with the Navy recruiter during their first encounter. Mom was an artist at the Uber-Catholic verbal guilt flogging. He got it - but good - and used the story of their first meeting as a training tool for new recruiters he was breaking in.
Of course, as things would go, a year later she was signing the papers for her 17 year old son to go to boot camp... but it was still funny.
Nothing wrong with being with protective of your children - and I DID NOT sniff a wit of racism in the original post. But... Come now, how old is this "kid" again?

21 this winter. prime material. i can't protect him from the world, and i'm blunt about reality and politics with him. i was once 20, and i know how easily a young man can be persuaded to join up.
so many men my son's age joined the military as a reaction to 9-11. almost as if it were designed that way.

One night a very sexy sounding voice rang up on the phone, asked for my 18 yo son, by first name. I almost went to get him, but he has a girlfriend, and I wasn't sure...this didn't sound kosher. This "girl" introduced herself by first name and said she just wanted to get together with my son, maybe go out for a cup of coffee and talk.
Really? About what?
Oh...well...about the great opportunities available to him in the Army, and how it changed her life forever!

7. I knew a recruiter who enticed you with drugs in the 70's, no shit |
|
this guy was almost kicked out of the marines for being wild and crazy, then he became a recruiter and often offered drugs to the recruits and told them the militarys was saturated with drugs.
everybody was snorting back then, even recruiters.

9. Ironic - I got an email from my younger son |
|
about 15 minutes ago asking about the draft.
"Hey Mom, haven't talked to you in a while. I know you told me that there was a chance they might open the draft, but I just heard from someone at work that it's being seriously considered. Do you know if you have to be a full time student to be ineligible? That's what someone at work thinks, but she's not positive. I start classes next week, but I am only part time."
