2. I read they knew in advance it was all a photo op.
They made copies of the note. We all know if he had been told something of any importance he wouldn't have responded spontaneously and quickly. My mom swears it was supposed to be ring and he got the g and the n switched. She saw the note on Olbermann I think.

5. that is the stupidest quote...Let Freedom Reign???
I think it was Thomas Jefferson who said, 'Let Freedom Ring.' And if I remember correctly, it has to do with the Liberty Bell, Philadelphia.

Reign? what an stupid fucking word just like the fuck bush.

6. I think you've got them figured out to a T ... a photo-op for $$$

"reign" is prolly apt for a private Baghdad ceremony ... "ring" sounds like a festive occasion, i.e., the 4th of July; Bastille Day ... 'let freedom ring' ... where dreams take wing ... where we put food on the family ... where we co-exist with fish ... where there are limits to freedom ... reign ... as in Kings, Queens and tyrants ...

hope many caught the Daily Show's coverage of the grand event ... Bremer's exit was hilarious ...

just think ... every year, on or about June 30th +/- 2 days, Iraqis can hold private, quiet 'celebrations' of winning back their sovereignty (i.e., having been "liberated")
... which was never ours to take
... how can we transfer something that's beyond our own sovereignty?

8. makes no sense
First of all, it is "let freedom ring." This is part of a stanza from the song that goes, "My country 'tis of thee, sweet land of liberty..."

Freedom and reign could almost (but not quite) be thought of as an oxymoron. Does freedom "rule"? Isn't that almost mutually exclusive? Freedom is free, rule (reign) is guidelines, adherence, etc. In other words, almost opposites.

Of course we are not talking correct here; we're talking what neocons think is clever.

Which looks to have mostly come off stupid.

10. Bush is very aware of the cameras
Edited on Tue Jun-29-04 09:43 AM by Cocoa
watching video of the "historic moment," you can tell he's got the cameras in mind.

It reminds me of the way he looked during the Goat Story, he could feel those cameras looking at him.

But this time, he had a plan for how to spontaneously react.

12. Some clever staffer came up with this...
I'm sure they've planned this in advance of the handover. As I posted on another thread, "Let Freedom Reign" has been used by others, and the example I thougth was most telling, was Nelson Mandela, in his inaugural address in 1994. (Are they trying to compare the liberation of Iraq with the fall of Apartheid?)

I'm not saying that Boosh is smart enough to make that reference - we all know he's not. But I don't think it's as simple as him fucking up "Let Freedom Ring".

I think this is just another example of how "stage managed" Bush is, he's got no ability for original thought.

This note is as genuine as Dumbya's Thanksgiving rubber turkey trick.

15. Phony Notey

What a sham note.

He knows Condi's writing when he sees it. She did not have to sign it with "Condi." She would not have to address him as Mr. President in an informal note.

Check out the note paper...neatly folded and plain white. Phony.

That was just a way for the world to know that she had the power to be the one to inform him. They are probably thinking that would highlight her in the press. Ultimately,in their sorry minds, this note will go into the history books.

I'm sure they are thinking ,long term, of Condi going into the Presidency when his sorry ass gets impeached and she hangs on.

The note,if there really was a real note probably said...

Honey,

We finally got out of this shit!
Bremer has his ass on the plane.
See you for our matinee at 2,tell the Bitch you are "READING"(ha ha.)

17. A man who is unable to say the simplest things and appears
not to have any thought processes in his head now is supposed to have written Let Freedom Reign.I have never seen him use the word let in any context because as a man seeking to be the center of attention at all times he simply wouldn't let any one steal his thunder. So let is a fraudulent word in Bush's hands.Considering the word Reign and its connotation of an absolute ruler it may very well be something Bush has in mind for Iraq but the word itself is beyond his capability to conjure up in this or any other context.

So, yes this note is counterfeit and is as truthful as a three dollar bill.Like almost everything about Bush totally lacking in authenticity.
