The election of 1980
Carter vs Reagan.

Reagan won by a landslide, didn't he?

And all the while, were'nt the polls showing a close race?

3. He Got 50% Carter Got 41% Anderson got 7%
It was a bigger win in the Electoral College...

It was neck and neck but Reagan pulled away after the debate...

I remember that election like it was yesterday...

10. In 1980 Carter got 51 electoral votes Reagan 487
In 1984 Mondale got 13 Reagan 525

Methinks both were landslides.

15. that last minute debate was a big mistake
avoided it for too long, or Reagan's people pushed to late Oct. on purpose, who knows. There was no time for Carter to recover and for voters that were on the fence, some of Reagan's responses stuck with voters and gave Reagan the edge to swamp Carter on election day.

2. That whole election was manipulated.

5. ....and REagan's people told the iranians....
...(in essence) ..."just wait a while. you'll get a better deal when we're in office."

just as Nixon had Kissinger do in 1968, when Henry the K brought the same message to the North Vietnamese: "Wait a while and you'll get a better deal from Nixon."

of course, 25,000 American soldiers -- almost half of the total -- lost their lives AFTER Nixon, who ran as a "peace" candidate f'chrissakes, defeated Humphrey. Along with untold millions of Vietnamese solidiers and civilians....
