1. We should never forget |
|
The entire right has racism as one of its founding principles. We should never let them try to put a pretty face on their "movement."

10. The blatant racism that underlies most RWers, IMHO, is veiled only |

by a paper-thin veneer of hypocrisy.

"The Beatles are not merely awful. They are so unbelievably horrible, so appallingly unmusical, so dogmatically insensitive to the magic of the art, that they qualify as crowned heads of antimusic."

He still doesn't like the Beatles?
Give up the ghost, Buckley, the days of swing and jazz being hip are over.

That's how Raygun came into to power by divinding the south by using terms like "states rights", and most southern whites know what that means. Note: I have to give Guy James credit for bringing this point up....

17. Reagan kicked off his 1980 run for president |
|
where the three civil rights workers were murdered...and talked only of "states rights."
He also tried hard to get tax breaks for Bob Jones U. and other segregated schools...and opposed renewing the Voters Rights Act.

8. The dirty little secret about many conservatives is that they supported |
|
segregation openly as long as it was a politically feasible position. And they continued to use racial code words after that such as "states' rights, quotas, etc. long after that to win the votes of racists. And the most egregious of those who practiced covert Jim Crow politics were the many Dixiecrats turned Republicans after the success of Nixon's Southern Strategy in 1968 and 1972. We are just supposed to forget that all of this happened, even though many of the worst offenders (including Jerry Falwell and Pat Robertson) have never truly repented of their unChristian attitudes toward African Americans in the 1950s and 1960s.

16. Oh yeah...I knew that... |
|
One of the constant themes of his idiotic newspaper columns in the 1960s was attacks on the civil rights movement and African Americans in general.
And I know someone who encountered the dessicated scumbag in public during the Reagan years with a bunch of his fuckwitted sycophants, where he said out loud, "In a civilized society, Bishop Tutu would be a bar of soap."
What a worthless piece of shit.
