Lies, I tell you! All lies, distortions and fabrications...FOX On F911
* was on vacation only 13% of the time because Moore counted weekends at Camp David.

* projected calm in that FL classroom which was the right thing to do so says the 911 Commission.

Richard Clarke says "he alone" not the Whitehouse OK'd the bin Laden's flights. And the 911 Commission says those Saudis were properly interviewed before leaving the country.

Those Taliban leaders were invited by UNOCAL, not Gov. Bush and the visit was approved by Clinton.

I guess that about covers it; MM is totally full of shit.

22. I didn't say work... but held accountable 24/7 ...yes...
.. and DEFINITELY not have someone argue for me about percentages of
vacation time to 'not include weekends'.

What's next, 'after 5:00pm or before 8:00am or during lunch' so it's really ONLY 8.7%.... ??????????

When people get to that nitpicky of the detail, they've lost the argument and only splitting hairs.

I got one week vacation during my first year, as do most Americans.

He campaigned for the job, he shouldn't spend all of his time avoiding the work.

And yes, I expect my president to work on weekends too.

It's a friggin movie, for crying out load.

Besides, if we want to talk about lies, I'm much more concerned about all the lies in Bu$h's SOTU before the Iraq Invasion, and Bu$h's and Powell's speeches to the UN.

Maybe FAUX should take some time to fact checking Bu$h instead of MM? MM isnt' running this country into the ground. Bu$h is.

I think that is why they get 2 months vacation a year is because they work on weekends.

I can't remember any President in my lifetime say "Oh I'm sorry! I can't help you now it is Saturday or Sunday."

Even when they were on vacation or otherwise.

I can only remember from Nixon on so if it happened before that I wouldn't know first hand.B-)

18. That rationale of presented calm only works if...
.. there was only the other option of EXTREME PANIC!

Too bad even Fox & the 9/11 commission THANKS BUSH for NOT running around the classroom mimicking Sally Field's performance in Mrs. Doubtfire when she found out her husband was the nanny "the whole time? Gotta go, gotta go now'.

But when presented with OTHER options of appearing calm AND stately and diplomatic, I guess Fox and the commission just new that was TOO much to ask for.

16. Two points...
Richard Clarke says "he alone" not the Whitehouse OK'd the bin Laden's flights.

He may have OK'd the flights (after a clearance by the FBI), but he most certainly did not initiate the flights. Someone higher up did.

And the 911 Commission says those Saudis were properly interviewed before leaving the country.

And according to a number of sources, only about two dozen out of 142 people were even nominally interviewed.

25. Not quite right, but cleverly selected
Here is an excerpt from Michael Moore's site:

We really do not know why it was so necessary for the White House to allow the quick exodus of these Saudi and bin Ladens out of the country, and "the White House still refuses to document fully how the flights were arranged," according to a June 20, 2004, article by Phil Shenon in the New York Times.

We do know who asked for help in getting Saudis out of the country - the Saudi government. National Commission on Terrorist Attacks Upon the United States, Threats and Responses in 2001, Staff Statement No. 10, The Saudi Flights, p. 12 The film also includes a television interview with Saudi Prince Bandar, confirming this as well.

Former counterterrorism chief Richard Clarke has testified that he approved these flights, stating that "it was a conscious decision with complete review at the highest levels of the State Department and the FBI and the White House." Testimony of Richard Clarke, Former Counterterrorism Chief, National Security Council, before The Senate Judiciary Committee, September 3, 2003.

29. And here's more info from Craig Unger:
Edited on Tue Jun-29-04 03:05 PM by NYCGirl
(Author of House of Bush, House of Saud)

http://www.houseofbush.com/index.php

(From a June 20th NYT Article)
In addition, new evidence shows that the evacuation involved much more than the departure of 142 Saudis on six charter flights that the commission is investigating. According to newly released documents, 160 Saudis left the United States on 55 flights immediately after 9/11 - making a total of about 300 people who left with the apparent approval of the Bush administration, far more than has been reported before. The records have been released by the Department of Homeland Security in response to a Freedom of Information Act request filed by Judicial Watch, a conservative, nonpartisan watchdog group in Washington.

The vast majority of the newly disclosed flights were commercial airline flights, not charters, often carrying just two or three Saudi passengers. They originated from more than 20 cities, including Chicago, Dallas, Denver, Detroit, and Houston. One Saudi Arabian Airlines flight left Kennedy Airport on Sept. 13 with 46 Saudis. The next day, another Saudi Arabian Airlines flight left with 13 Saudis.

The panel has indicated that it has yet to find any evidence that the F.B.I. checked the manifests of departing flights against its terror watch list. The departures of additional Saudis raise more questions for the panel. Richard Clarke, the former counterterrorism czar, told The Hill newspaper recently that he took full responsibility for approving some flights. But we still don't know if other Bush administration officials participated in the decision.

The passengers should have been questioned about any links to Osama bin Laden, or his financing. We have long known that some faction of the Saudi elite has helped funnel money to Islamist terrorists--inadvertently at least. Prince Ahmed bin Salman, who has been accused of being an intermediary between Al Qaeda and the House of Saud, boarded one of the evacuation planes in Kentucky. Was he interrogated by the F.B.I. before he left?

31. Moore got the vacation data from washington post
not ALL saudi's were interviewed as even the commission admits, and is stated in the movie that only 24 of 29 were interviewed.
and I don't recall it stated in the movie that Bush invited the Taliban but that they met with Unocal in Texas and Karzai did work for Unocal and low and behold one of the first major projects started before even stabilizing the country and holding elections was to sign a deal to build a pipeline.

and as far as projecting calm? for SEVEN minutes? two planes just smashed into the WTC towers and no one there had a inkling that hmmm I wonder that since people know where the president is this morning that they might try to smash a plane into this building?
Sure, calm, a minute goes by maybe but after that? He wasn't told there was an airline accident, he was told "AMERICA IS UNDER ATTACK" was he waiting for someone to tell him what to do? did his next move have to be staged like everything else about his presidency?
