Good point about the Repub Convention Speakers.
I was watching the end of Paula Zahn's show when one of the guest made an astute comment about the upcoming Repub convention keynote speakers. He pointed out that just like the last convention their much alluded prime time speakers are not representative of their party. This year its Arnold Schwarzenegger, John McCain and Rudolph Guiliani.

2. It's not like they want Joe Sixpack to know
that the party has been hijacked by a bunch of religious maniacs who want to blow him to pieces to bring on Armageddon so they can get raptured out of the mess, do you? That's exactly who is running the party now, a bunch of religiously insane screwballs who want to kill us all.

They're trotting out the few who still sound sane in order to try to fool the folks into voting for the "party of fiscal responsibility," which anybody who has been paying the slightest bit of attention knows they are not.

It remains to be seen whether or not this works at all.

It does, doesn't it?

It's also the truth. Think about that.

18. Well...
It isn't like I haven't seen Freepers talk about killing all liberals. Those are the people voting Republican.

But a good number of the GOP have been convinced we're living in the end times for years. 2000 was supposed to be the magic number, remember. This comes from them misreading Revelation.

Thanks to televangelists like Jack Van Impe, the EU is the seven headed beast in Revelation. Van Impe is the man who helped all those Left Behind movies get made. The RW is convinced this war is leading to Armageddon, the last battle will be fought, as we're now fighting in the correct region and the Rapture is coming.

Unfortunately, the idea of the Rapture wasn't even thought up until 1830. It's all a lie that people managed to buy into. No movement taught such things until then. Some people will buy into anything. Of course, when the idea was catching on, people also thought they were living in the end times.

If you know any born again Christians you can stand, ask them about it. They will tell you that this is the war that will bring on the end times. So yeah, they are talking about everyone dying, including themselves. Now think of how many of Bush's people share these views.

My thoughts:
I think it's designed to attract TV viewers who happen to be channel surfing. That's why Giuliani and Schwarzenegger are in there.

9. I noticed that too!
I find it Ironic that Mcain and Arnold were Chosen. I figured Saxby Chamblis or Rick Santorum would do the honors. So they chose a guy who's pro gun control, and George Bush's arch enemy John Mcain.

Very interesting indeed.

11. VERY good point. Does anyone remember the 1992 convention?
Marilyn Quayle and the other shrill speechgivers made the repubs look like rightwing nutjobs, completely out of touch w/the country. It was a telling scene. So now they need to HIDE THEIR BASE in order to PRETEND to be an inclusive, representative group. What a joke.

14. These moderate speakers represent FALSE ADVERTISING!
The DNC/Kerry need to hammer this message -- highlight somehow how their views differ from those of Bush and GOP Congressional leadership. And the speakers should be ashamed of themselves for carrying water for the Bush cabal!

By pretending to be a moderate.

Dems need to hammer this out: W is NOT a moderate, he is a tool of the religious right.

16. True colors.
You know "we" are not ashamed of being liberals. Yes folks the democrats bring our true faces out front and into the unblinking eye of the TV cameras for all the world to see. So unlike the repubs who are so afraid of their conservatives that they have to hide them behind the likes of John McCain. So say loud say it proud I'm a liberal and damn proud of it!!
