Will Moore succeed?
Flint mom of war casualty getting used to being treated as film star
THE FLINT JOURNAL FIRST EDITION

FLINT - At the gym and at church, Lila Lipscomb draws extra attention that makes her realize just how hot "Fahrenheit 9/11" is.

The Flint woman is one of the "stars" of Michael Moore's new film, the first documentary to hold the No. 1 spot at the box office.

Some reviewers have said footage of Lipscomb talking about the death of her son, Army Sgt. Michael Pedersen, is the most compelling part of the movie. Pedersen, 26, died when his Black Hawk helicopter crashed April 2, 2003, in Iraq.

"Wherever I go now ... the looks on people's faces are kind of like, 'Is that her?' " Lipscomb said.

On Sunday, a woman at Lipscomb's gym recognized her from the movie.

On the same day, a friend from church told Lipscomb she had just returned from Chicago and encountered someone who had seen the movie. When she found out the woman was from Flint, she asked her if she knew the Flint mom in the movie. "She asked her to give me a hug for her," Lipscomb said.

2. i love this quote:
"Because we've been so desensitized through the media ever since the war began. You'll continuously show me beheaded people, but you won't even show my son coming home being honored through Dover Air Force Base."

**and this**

She plans to see it again. "Every time I watch it, I see something different."

4. That is a very good point...and we know why they're
not showing the flag draped coffins coming home..it's not for sensitivity sake ..it's so the American public won't be reminded how many soldiers are dying in bush and blair's illegal, blood and treasure spent invasion of Iraq.

3. Good for her!
As the mother of a teenage son, my heart just broke for her when I saw the movie yesterday. And I loved how she handled that dumbass freeper bitch who challenged her, claiming it was all staged and demanding to know where and when her son died.

5. F9/11 is the only media I've seen that truly supports the troops
Let's face it: this administration treats our dead American soldiers like they are the plague, and the whore media treats them like they don't even exist, period. Michael Moore and Lila Lipscomb have brought the terrible consequences of this misbegotten war into the living rooms, hearts, and minds of the hoi polloi around the country FOR THE FIRST TIME. Goddess bless them for doing that.

6. And I have seen reports that MM used her and should be ashamed.
Looks like she wanted a mega phone to share her pain and wake up the country. Kudos to her for courage.

7. Is she on Deborah Norville tomorrow?
I heard a promo for tomorrow's show and I didn't hear Lila Lipscomb's name, but she described her guest as a woman who supported the war until she lost her son.

Anyone else catch it?

8. My dad called me last night after seeing the film
He loved the movie. He wasn't an MM fan before seeing F 9/11, but afterwards he said "I just love that guy-he's a true American Patriot and Hero". He was especially moved by Lila Lipscomb's story, which surprised me. My dad is a shrink for a woman's prison, and hears stories filled with tragedy and horror every day; he's pretty hardened. He said Moore's depiction of Lipscomb was "filled with sensitivity, dignity, and pathos. He handled it masterfully; I truly felt connected to her". I'm sure it wasn't easy for Lipscomb to expose her grief in that way, but it was important for us all to see it-every American should be made aware of the horrible costs of this illegal occupation.
