Chad Souder, manager of Crossroads 12, said Cinema Entertainment Corp. was given another copy of the movie "Fahrenheit 9-11" and will place it on a screen at the College Square Theaters. Both theaters are owned by CEC.
Both theaters received numerous calls over the weekend, requesting to see the film. Souder said he wanted it for opening weekend, but CEC was given only one copy to play in all of its Iowa theaters. They chose Iowa City, where the movie was sold out all weekend and brought in about $21,000.
"We've been accused that we don't want it out there. But ... we don't choose movies based on a political agenda. We choose them because they are going to make us money," he said.
The movie was given a limited release on just 868 screens. About 200 additional copies of the movie have been distributed for the Wednesday release.
