Yankees pound Red Sox (Cheney booed)
NEW YORK (AP) - The New York Yankees made Boston's April dominance seem like distant history.

Gary Sheffield hit a three-run homer, Tony Clark hit a rare drive into the center-field bleachers and Javier Vazquez beat the Red Sox for the first time in his career, leading the Yankees to an 11-3 victory Tuesday night.

snip:

The Red Sox, who have lost six of nine overall, made three errors and allowed four unearned runs, raising their total to a major league-leading 58. Shortstop Nomar Garciaparra, who missed the April games with Achilles' tendinitis, was Boston's Achilles' heel, allowing Jeter's two-out grounder in the fourth to kick off the heel of his glove for his second error of the game.

snip:

Cheney, who visited both clubhouses after batting practice, watched part of the game from the box of Yankees owner George Steinbrenner and part from a first-row seat next to the Yankees dugout, where he sat between New York Gov. George Pataki and former New York City Mayor Rudolph Giuliani. Cheney was booed when he was shown on the right-field videoboard during the seventh-inning stretch.

But mostly it was a night of cheering in the ballpark.

4. I thought the Sox would win and begin to chip
at that 5 game Yankee lead today. Sadly no cigars today. Maybe tomorrow we win.

Cheney getting booed dulled the pain of the losss a little bit though.

3. Bad for Sox glad Cheney was booed....Now there's a good crowd we
can look up to! I hope he heard it. Didn't know that POS was a baseball fan, or did he just assume if he shows up it's "Hail to the Thief" being played just for him. :puke:

10. That convention is gonna be
a huge disaster if they try to play the 9/11 patriotism card.

I heard Karl Rove plans to uproot Reagan's body from Simi Valley for another patriotic state funeral at the convention to gin up the converted for the elections. HA HA HA HA!

11. We are pretty quick to boo.
Especially assholes that use our team, stadium, or game for their photo-ops.

Bush wants to throw out a pitch to show the country the 'terrists' haven't won, we'll cheer.

Giuliani wants to sit 'front-row' every game and schmooz because he's a lifer, we'll cheer.

You want to show up and score political points by being seen even though you're not a fan, get ready for boo-birds!

Hell, we'll boo our own just for trying too hard!

I'm sure they didn't keep his image on the screen for very long. Too bad. It would have been great. Picture Larry David and Richard Lewis having to leave courtside at the Lakers game.
