Keith Olbermann tells it like it is about Fox News
I posted this in Media but figured a lot of you folks don't get over to that forum very much so I decided to post it here. It seems that it's not enough for Fox News to win in the ratings game--they also want to insult their competition too-on a personal level whenever and where ever possible. Somebody needs to tell Roger Ailes he's running a "news" network-not a political campaign. Fox's whole attitude reminds me of the old saying that the one thing a whore usually wants and can't get--is respect. Anyway--I cribbed this from www.cablenewser.com:

MSNBC's Keith Olbermann writes in with a question about FOX:
"Here's a question...about the latest ratings. Why, when there is no debating their numerical predominance, is FNC so consistently and relentlessly vicious, arrogant, and, above everything else, personal about their public comments?"
"When the 11 PM SportsCenter had something like 75% of the cable sports news audience, we never crowed about it. I mean, I don't even have the exact number written down anywhere, and I have an ego the size of the L.A. Coliseum. We just enjoyed it and our masters charged more money for commercials and that was an end to it. We certainly didn't -- as John LeCarre once wonderfully wrote -- erase the rationale for taking your opponent on by making him look foolish or unworthy."
"It underscores the fact that the left/right with FNC thing has long since passed into comparative irrelevance in this mini-industry. Fox News is hated because they're elitists -- and the worst winners television's ever seen."

1. I detest Keith Olberman
even if he says this about Fox.

He just seems smug and like an asshole.

6. Sorry
but he reminds of someone I know who is an asshole, and I guess I can't get past that.

Now Jon Stewert? I'll take that sweet thing thank you very much.

13. Hello!
What a beautiful area you're in!!! Lucky you, I live in rural (ugh conservative repukeville) east GA.

It's beautiful here also, but the vibes aren't as good!

14. Know the feeling
spent a 7 year sentence in Kennesaw. Escaped in '94 and made sure I never live outside the perimeter. Being in a Univ. campus neighborhood is great.

8. Very, very lonely.
Keith is one of the most salient, erudite, and clever pundits in that wasteland. His talent and progressive disposition are beyond question.

2. I really dig Keith Olbermann
I liked him when he was on SportsCenter, and his new show is perfect for his style. He's not a very good journalist, but his approach seems to be "mix in silly stuff with the important stuff to get the idiots to learn something."

How much do you want to bet that Jon Stewart gets Olbermann's job when he leaves Countdown?

3. I'll take that bet.
It sounds like a good idea, but it won't happen. Jon Stewart is too valuable a commodity to dump him into the wasteland of cable news.

If anything, he's being groomed for a big network show after leaving Comedy Central.

5. PLEASE VOTE FOR HIM AS THE PLAYGIRL newsguy.

http://www.playgirl.com/site/vote.html

Hannity is winning. Olbermann reported that Hannity has 25% of the vote (and he joked it is because Colmes is voting for Hannity all day! )

7. Listen--at least Keith admits he's got an ego. . .
and that's more than Bill O'Lielly will ever, ever do! Keith has done a great job asking fair, and yes, that's right, balanced questions from each side on Countdown. He's got a great program and I try and watch it every single chance I get because it's about the fairest thing out there these days.

11. PLEASE DO THIS!
I would hate for Hannity to win. And it would be good PR for Olbermann.

10. Keith Olbermann is the only anchorman telling the truth
he not only refuses to use the White House talking points... but he's the only one that actually said and showed us that the WH sends them all talking points!

He is the best thing on cable news and the only cable news show I will watch. He's the man.

16. Has he stopped talking about William Hung yet?
I love "Countdown," but I gave it a few months break after that crap.

17. Hahah.
Yeah, I saw him have Hung on twice. I haven't seen him on since the day his CD got released. I think Hung's 15 minutes are up now. It's safe for you to watch again.
