WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Prices for medicines most used by older Americans rose steadily after the Bush administration enacted the new Medicare law late last year, the nation's largest group representing the elderly said on Wednesday.

AARP, formerly known as the American Association of Retired Persons, said brand-name drug prices have climbed 3.4 percent -- or three times the rate of inflation -- since December.

The jump was one of the sharpest quarterly spikes since 2000, the report said.

The findings follow another AARP report this year that showed prices for drugs used most by the elderly grew 6.9 percent in 2003. But the increase since President Bush (news - web sites) signed the Medicare bill into law was even sharper, the AARP said on Wednesday.

We can all go thank our republican friends for the payoof and bribes they recieved so they can screw Americans.

2. Thanks, Bush
I'll bet seniors will tell you what they think of you f*cking a**hole come November. Deductibles and co-pays already increased and now we also have to pay more for medication.

How can ANYONE still vote for those bastards? They are taking it from the poor and are giving it to the rich.

BUSH AND THE GOP SOLD AMERICA TO THE HIGHEST BIDDER.

4. I didn't need this report to tell me that. Everytime I refill
a prescription for my husband, and with his disease and age (77) he has a lot of them, they are dollars more each time for each medication. I didn't say pennies but dollars ever since this prescription drug bill went through. Not only that this prescription drug discount plan that he has is no different than the one he had previous to the new drug bill.

Thanks for nothing Mr. Bush. Your karma has descended into another circle of Hell for this.

5. If you belong to AARP, QUIT NOW !!! if not . . . .
. . .DON'T JOIN!!!That is a BOGUS organization. It's a self-serving insurance company. I won't join and have convinced a number of others to quit. Furthermore, it was not just Repukes that voted for the fuckin' bill, no less than DIANNE FEINSTEIN of California, for God's sake, not to mention others, also helped pass it. I lost ALL respect for her when I saw her standing there with all the grinning and drooling republicans, when they announced their triumph. :grr:
