How long does something qualify as "news"??
It amazes me how far "some" news stations will go to avoid covering things that are important.

We all are familiar with the "shark attack of the week" scenario, but it seems to me that "news" that is accompanied by video (almost all of it lately), NEVER goes away..

The "news venues" are right on the spot to rehash stories from ages ago.

Steinberg being released is news, but watch for them to replay ALL the old footage that they have (once they blow the dust bunnies off), and undoubtedly there will be a "People in the News" segment that will run on CNN all weekend long.. Larry King's archives will be searched, and we will be "treated" to his "shows" from all those years ago..

...Every mid-June , they regurgiate all those wretched OJ clips, as if they were not disgusting enough the first 30 times we had to see them...

...There will be a yearly Kobe-fest, if and when the trial progresses..

...we will be seeing Laci for YEARS...

...If Martha ever does go to jail, someone will probably arrange for an online cell-cam, so they can show her in prison garb and giggle like junior high girls..

While all this nonsense goes on, it effectively crowds out the real news.. news that we NEED to know... News that could actually save lives...news that would teach the public the desperate lessons of the world, that we never learned..

Instead of being a useful tool for the public, it's just a voyeuristic tool, in the worst possible sense..

The "networks" have all this glorious footage, andf goodness knows it's cheaper to "cue-tape", than to actually get people out in the world, and report about what is happening NOW..

1. the Clenis has been "news" for at least a decade
ranking members of the bushgang committing treason was news for about 45 seconds.

it's all relative. If you're a relative of bush, the bad news is either never news or is news for only a nanosecond. If you're a relative of a democrat, bad news is immortal and good news doesn't exist.
