How is that new EXIT POLLING system going to work again?
Isn't it affiliated with the networks or something? Did VNS EVER give up the data they collected for the extremely suspicious 2002 election? Any movement afoot to put together some sort of "back-up" exit poll? Anyone know where the Dems stand on this?

1. The Exit Polls will ALWAYS agree with Diebold now
VNS is now run by AP (under another name) and while there are still honest, uninfiltrated, unparasitized sections of AP (it's SO BIG), you can bet your ass the "Exit Polling" is fully under control of Bushevik Loyalists and Mockingbirds.

Where do the Dems stand on this issue? We don't.

Kerry, I'm sorry to say, is campaigning on NONE of the issues important to the continuance of our democratic-republic. Not one.

Not the Fairness Doctrine, Media Consolidation and the rise of Totalitarian Media, not any of it. Not Trustworthy Voting nor the equitable random distribution of voting machines.

The whole thing is a travesty.

4. Then...are we not TOTALLY FUCKED??!!!
Am I missing something? 99% of the people might hate BushCo (and I'm beginning to see that happening) and the criminal warmongering/profiteering bastards could still remain in power!

14. If true, yes. But it has not been shown/proven to be true
So we still have hope.

Keep working for and doanting to Kerry. Keep writing Letters to the Editor and anything else you can think of!

In case I'm/we're wrong.

2. Basically
If the exit polls say Bush won, they will be considered accurate, but if they show Bush losing, they will be labeled unreliable and an alternate system of calling the election will be made up on the spot.

3. The exit polling will mark everyone down as voting for *, just like the
ballot counts will. *sigh*

6. Who can we get to poll the exit pollers?
Ya mean to tell me if Fox News (or some Reich Wing ally) does the exit poll - we just have to trust the friggin' results?? Is that the plan?

8. Hey, remember when the U.N. had folks come and watch the
recount in 2000. "Ah, we praise the greatness of the American democracy." they said. But what they really meant was, "We're about to all get blown to smithereens, aren't we?"

10. How 'bout some "bi-partisan" commission - head by Carter & Ford?
As in Jimmy & Gerald? Any chance?

5. What about independent polling?
Seems like this is something that would be of interest to universities, statisticians, &c.

12. Official National Election Exit Polling Service for 2004
Six major news organizations, in a joint decision, have appointed Edison Media Research and Mitofsky International, as the sole official 2004 National Election Exit Polling Service. Edison Media Research and Mitofsky International will perform the Exit Polling function for the major presidential primaries and the November general election. The same group of news organizations has appointed the Associated Press to conduct the Vote Count for the same elections.

Edison Media Research and Mitofsky International both have vast experience in designing and conducting reliable, accurate research studies in addition to many domestic and international political election exit polls.

13. Thanks. Can't say that I trust those companies, judging by their resumes.
FUCK! If Fox News helped pick them, and Edison validated the Cali recall numbers...just sounds like a raw deal here. Hope somebody out there knows something good about these companies that isn't readily apparent to me.

16. The fundamental problem is that, in the US, exit polling was always seen..
as a convenience for the press to get the results before people went to sleep on election night - and not and a check in an election check and balance system. In addition, releasing exit poll results before the polls close is now considered "bad journalism".

Thus, when an "all electronic" system is in place, the "justification" for exit polls disappears.

Now, in other countries, exit polls are often seen as a vital check to insure honest counts. But here, even mentioning this use of exit polling is seen as advocating an extreme conspiracy theory.

Oh Brave New World that has such people in it!

17. You'd think America would have become enlightened after 2000
But...the non-reading public (the overwhelming majority, I fear) seems to have learned next to nothing!!
