9. He didn't make her a villian... |
|
...we did. It was just a quick excerpt, and I don't think a "fast one" was pulled. It was a snip of a "standard encounter". Would showing the apology and hug have driven the point home (that the sheep could change their mind)? Perhaps, but films have a limited timeframe, and there are already plenty complaining that this bit or that bit or this info wasn't included...

10. doesn't matter if she apologized... |
|
Her idiotic shoot-from-the-lip freeper style is the dangerous sentiment out there... She was trained to believe lies as so many others are.

So what if she apologized, she approached two people talking about children and young people being killed in an ILLEGAL war and she accused it of being 'staged'!
That is an ignorant under informed villain.
So she apologized after she realized she was a total uncaring ass? Glad to hear it, but it doesn't take away her smug disrespectful ignorant attitude towards REALITY.
So if dubya breaks down and apologizes we should all be mad at ourselves for being so mean to him?

12. How did Moore make her a villain? |
|
she was questioning someone's grief because of her "O'reilly" mentality. Lila had to explain herself. A hug does not make it ok

13. Lila's story would have been less compelling had Moore gotten the apology, |
|
IMO. The whole scene would have seemed contrived -- to both the fence-sitters and the hardcore conservatives.

14. Besides, maybe Michael already had the camera off by the time she |
|
apologized. To re-enact that would not have accomplished anything, and might have taken away from the impact of that whole scene.
My view is that this scene was a microcosm of the kinds of conflicts that probably do happen in America today and it shows how divided we have become. Imagine being so cynical that you insult people who have lost loved ones (I'm talking about the lady in the booth). That kind of behavior in kids is called Bullying.
You can bet that for every situation like that where there's an apology or reconciliation, there are probably 10 where it ends in rancor. Michael portrayed more realism by leaving it out.
