Who would you like to see give Keynote address at Dem. convention?
The keynote address is the speech which rallies the party behind the themes of the coming campaign--it is always an important speech at a National convention and usually telecast live. Who would you like to deliver it? My choice is Howard Dean. People like Bill Clinton and even John Kerry credit Dr. Dean with taking the attack directly to the Bush Administration in 2002 and 2003 when some other democrats were cautious due to Bush's then high approval ratings. He also gives a hell of a good, fiery speech which is sure to bring the delegates to their feet.

1. Harold Ford Jr. He is young, articulate, and represents the....
modern face of the Party.

I don't trust anyone who goes out to dinner with Hannity and Colmes

he looks good on tv, though, but I say Dean would be better

11. Too bad he's a Moonie.
As far as I'm concerned, anyone who took part in that Moon as Messiah cluster-cheney needs to resign from the party.

42. The moonie thing was damn scary
I think both Dems/Repubs that were there should all be shamed into resigning. Crowning a guy in Washington that's saying he's the messiah and has saved the souls of Stalin and Hitler. Yikes.

2. At first, I thought your title said "How would you like to give the
speech". I was thinking "Hell no". I don't even like to speak in front of 20 people, much less that many. I'd probably die of nervousness before I got there.

if Kerry loses or 2012--he will still be under 50--and yes, he could be the first AA president of the US. About time.

10. I will not be Dean...
Edited on Wed Jun-30-04 04:51 PM by hughee99
I can't remember the last time someone who lost the nomination gave a keynote address at any convention. Besides, how does the saying go, during the primary, you move to the fringes, during the election, you move to the center? Something like that, anyway. The conventional choice would, I guess, be the big dog, but I don't think it will be him. If Kerry doesn't take Hillary (I don't think that he will), then it could be her. She is more than capable of both moving to the center and firing up the base a the same time. IMHO Although, being in Boston, it could also be Kennedy.

I would love to hear Dean, or even better, DK, but I think they're going to go with someone who Kerry didn't go against in the primary.

Bill or Hillary?

I think both should speak.

Though I wouldn't be surprised if Ron Jr. or Patti surprised everyone and became the keynote speaker.

21. I wouldn't mind hearing them
but I don't think that either the Reagans or the DNC want to bring up Raygun during their keynote, even if they didn't mention him, you know the press would be all over it. It would just overshadow the message to some degree.

29. This Really Is A Tough Question
You would think that normally the speaker would be the new face of the Party, someone who was being introduced to the public as much as he or she was introducing what the party hoped to become to the nation. In that sense it should be a woman or more likely a person from the southwest, hispanic. I do not think it should be an old person. As good as some of our speakers and as much as what they have to say it is of importance to the country I still think that Al and Bill, and Dennis, and even Ted should stand in the sidelines for this one.

So this is a tough one.
