F911 on a midweek matinee | I see LEGS here folks...
I decided to take a second look at the film just a week after seeing it during the early release in NYC.

it was playing in my neighborhood and I went to a 3:30 showing (hey, only $5!). I would say the house was at least 2/3rds full. very mixed audience in terms of age, race, etc. we had to wait almost 15 minutes past the scheduled showtime to enter because of some problem with the projector during the 1pm showing.

quite a long line formed!

it was a much more quiet audience than the East Village one I saw it with last week. since I knew some of the tougher scenes were coming, I was watching the crowd (as much as I could) and esp the reactions near me.

there were will plenty of laughs in the spots you'd expect, and stunned silence during the WTC scenes (this was an NYC audience). also some audible gasps with the dead/wounded Iraqi children.

when we exited, an even LONGER line had formed for the next showing.

I think the thing has LEGS folks.

1. I Heard A DJ....
...on a black station today urging 'black folk' to see this movie. He said 'if everyone saw this movie, Bush would be lucky to win Texas'

2. Email from my brother regarding F911
He lives in another state and he sent me this email yesterday...

"We went to see farenheight 9/11 on Sunday. We sent Kerry $25 after that."

This is from someone who voted for Chimpy in 2000. Isn't it great!

6. the people I know want to see it again
like me, they were SO gut-punched by the first viewing, they, like me, wanted to see it again.

frankly, it was very different seeing it a second time. in my mind, I remember the sequences much differently.

I kept going... that was this early? this didn't happen until now?

side note: two of my actors for The Question W Revue saw the film *just* before coming to the Monday night rehearsal. they were ON FIRE, even though they were pretty savvy prior to seeing the show.

one number has already been given a new HEAT due to the actor's passion since seeing the movie. he added a RANT that was so powerful, we had to move his solo to the 11:00 number!

9. He needs to do an immediate sequel
involving recent developments, such as the Plame scandal and the involuntary callup of the reserves, for example.

5. And, its now to be shown in MORE theatres
I thought I was going to have to drive a hundred miles to see it. I checked the fandango thingy and its opening in my Red Town Friday!!

That is quite an accomplishment for the film.

10. And even more...
I just checked Fandago and by Friday it will be in all of the local Regal Cinemas (though I'll be seeing it at a smaller theater in Allentown, PA, just to support the small guys who took a chance on the film first)

11. Really need to take a 2nd look
There seems to be much I overlooked on the first viewing and much of the accompanying music is from a younger generation and went over my head. My daughter and grandson who were my theater mates, have since updated me and I just seemed to have enriched my music library and a 2nd viewing will only enhance my pleasure. Plan on obtaining the DVD when it is released.

My daughter who has been out of country did not realize Ashcroft's singing his hilarious eagles song nor Brittney Spears bubblegum chewing endorsement of Georgie were actual events until we convinced her that Michael Moore did not make this up and that they actually did this......which only made it more hilarious. So from 3-generations we learned from each other.....it was a great movie moment, that we are still enjoying....what a great family reunion.

14. Nostamj, not to be a naysayer, but how many times have we all believed
something, some scandal had legs? There is no more reason to believe this one does than any other we have thought had legs in the past. We all have to be realistic. There is nothing with legs that will bring this group down. Come on. It is harsh, but it is a reality we must and have to face. We can keep on hoping or start coping with reality. What's it going to be? Much as we want and know it should be so, we all have to come to grips. It isn't going to happen. So, So, Sorry. Even Madsen is saying "IF". Go Figure.

27. Yep. Really.
In your post, you state: "It is harsh, but it is a reality we must and have to face. We can keep on hoping or start coping with reality."

What's your reality? That we're going to lose, there's no hope of beating Bush, or regaining the Senate, or picking up House seats and Governorships?

Michael Moore's movie, and the attention it has drawn to THE TRUTH, has given me hope, and the will to fight, fight, FIGHT.

30. Well, let's see...
Well, you got me there, because I haven't given a dime in the last month. Why?

BECAUSE I'M MAXED OUT ON KERRY DONATIONS.

I'm skipping my yearly vacation, because I came close to maxing out during the primaries, and I've given more money to MoveOn than I'm comfortable admitting, and that makes me pretty broke right now.

Not to mention the two days a week I spend volunteering at the Kerry HQ in Cincinnati. I'm also on the rapid response team. And I'm spending the last week of July in Boston, as a registered and official Convention volunteer.

Did I earn my Dem Street Cred with you, yet? Sad that it has to come to this, really... I hate pissing matches, because they accomplish nothing.

And I never told you to Cheney Yourself. But that's ok. Glad to see you toughen up.

24. Now that was just a little harsh! Want to say you are sorry? I will.
And I'm not being "Cheney" negative! Give me a break, Nostamj! We will never give up and we will never roll over! We might though leave the country if BushCo wins or declares martial law to stay in power.

If we were giving up would we have paid for two tables and 1/2 (of 10 each) to see Scott Ritter, or paid for 11 people to see F911 on 6/25. Would we have paid to take a bus to Houston to protest the Halliburton stock holders meeting? What is up with you??

Sorry for the rant!

33. It is our most sincere hope that F911 stays at the top through the
4th of July! We will also be doing our part and take as many folks as we can possibly round up to see it again. Once again, so sorry to you and to VJen, "F The F word". We never used it here before and we shouldn't now, no matter what Cheney did or said. We are far better than that. Have a great and safe (whatever that may mean), and lots of fun 4th of July!

38. My serious response to that......
is the need for some old-fashioned teach-ins.

There will be questions arising, and emotions surfacing.

So, yes, you are right...... there is a definite need.

At the same time, there is also a need for support for those of us who are on the 'front lines'.

Kanary, wondering what the 7steps are.......:)
lessee,, there's hula, and luau, and locomoco, and May Day Is Lei Day, and ........
