Let's not forget these words:
I put them into another thread but it was pretty much buried and I think they're important enough to keep in mind (if the Patriot Act hasn't made them criminal.) I'm sure DUers know where they come from.

" We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness. --That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed, --That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness. Prudence, indeed, will dictate that Governments long established should not be changed for light and transient causes; and accordingly all experience hath shewn, that mankind are more disposed to suffer, while evils are sufferable, than to right themselves by abolishing the forms to which they are accustomed. But when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same Object evinces a design to reduce them under absolute Despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such Government, and to provide new Guards for their future security. --Such has been the patient sufferance of these Colonies; and such is now the necessity which constrains them to alter their former Systems of Government."

love to praise this very document have totally forgotten what it actually says, since they've given us another crazy King George that we are once again suffering under.

3. When I was in high school, back in the Pliocene era, some people typed
those word up as a petition. They changed words only to fit modern language and changed reference to colonies. They went out and tried to get people to sign it. Few would.

That was back in the 60's. Anybody doing it today would likely get arrested.

Oh, but they are fine, fine words. No better words were ever laid to paper. Wonder if any of the current members of Congress have ever read them.

5. Probably not, re: F-911 scene with John Conyers.
Now don't get pissed off, I'm not saying anything about John Conyers. He is a fine Congressman, but so many of them seen to me not to give a rat's ass about anything about their own interests.

8. That might very well be the case
If Junior tells them that God talks to him, then they might interepret that as the Creator saying that the Inalienable Rights no longer apply. :(

before taking the steps the founders did.

The big question would be, how much is enough?

Edit to add: Has anybody listed a bill of particulars of our complaints. Is our government really to the point of being uncorrectable?
