THESE BASTARDS ARE SO F*CKING DONE!
and I mean it.

R.E.V.O.L.U.T.I.O.N. tastes like candy people!

it is in the air. it is enveloping. it is here.

read GD tonight.

i have 2 "testimonials".

others have more.

Bus rides, neighbors, F-9/11, "rednecks", bumper stickers, strangers, packed theaters, engagement, conversation.

to quote a famous lefty song-writer and performer, "And friends, they'll think its a M-O-V-E-M-E-N-T"

How can you NOT think its a great time?

don't let the guard down though. we can't afford to.

but smile. smile PROUDLY

good night.

But I honestly don't feel any different than I did yesterday. I still will scream for changing the party from within. I'm taking the wait and see approach. But Bush out is a step in the right direction. :hi:

Oh right on.....they're cooked...they can't even STEAL this one and this is SWEET to be sure.

I've been driving around doing errands all day with a smile on my face, listening to the RW wackos rant on about Edwards. They're scared dead, they know BushCo is done, and they are done.

It's in the air tonight

Well, if you told me you were drowning
I would not lend a hand
I've seen your face before my friend
But I don't know if you know who I am
Well, I was there and I saw what you did
I saw it with my own two eyes
So you can wipe off the grin, I know where you've been
It's all been a pack of lies

8. My 85 year old in-laws
went to see F 9/11. Father-in-law is a WWII vet who does not like Bush at all. Voted for Edwards in our Primary after Clark dropped out. He's actually pretty conservative - voted for Reagan way back when.

My Mother-in-Law wants to see F 9/11 again. She thinks it will make a difference in the "undecideds." She never voted for Reagan...

She compares Bush to a barnyard rooster who struts around chirping. I think she's got his number.

10. The walls are coming down
The pervasive fear of the past three years has meant that people who don't agree with the official line have been afraid to speak out. Those of us who were lucky enough to find DU to carry us through these trying times can easily forget just how scared and isolated you feel when you're unable to talk freely about the truth you see around you.

But now the walls are coming down. Fahrenheit 911 makes it possible to speak out. The Daily Show makes it possible to speak out. Not only are people speaking out, they're speaking to each other -- and discovering kindred spirits.

This is a time of great joy and great healing. We have no assurances yet that we will prevail -- but America is finding its soul again, and anyone who hears the call can be part of it. For a time, at least, we are all one voice -- and that is the voice of true freedom.

12. Matcom, I salute you. You are so correct. I've been feeling it all day!
I flashed my Kerry button in response to another motorist whose car had a Kerry bumper sticker on it, and we exchanged smiles of true solidarity. And that was even before today.

I am on a "John/John Day" high. I have been all day, ever since the Edwards announcement. I have been smiling from ear to ear! I was thinking to myself what a cool time it is to be a Democrat. It's hip to be a Dem. Democrats are sexy, even! It's the other guys who are withered and shriveling. And more and more I suspect they know it. And on georgie-poo's BIRTHDAY, to boot! YOWZA!!

I do indeed feel change in the air. I have seen ONE - count 'em - ONE bush/"fuck yourself" bumper sticker in the same time frame that I've also seen dozens of John Kerry stickers. I'm now seeing anti-bush stickers on stop signs, light posts, all over the place. A kid walking down the street in the local shopping area wearing a DNC T-shirt. The guy at the news stand telling me that several people had already come up to him, asking if he had a "New York Post" from today - with the Kerry/Gephardt cover story (he didn't - had never gotten any of those - he had only the West Coast update version). Friends come to me gushing about "Fahrenheit 9/11," and speaking of lines that are still wrapped around the side of the building. And, today, too, that damned one-month mourning period of the flags at half-staff for Reagan is OVER! As of TODAY! They're back up to the top of the pole again.

I realize this isn't anywhere near the end, and we still have a LONG way to go. But I am feeling better, today, and more light-hearted and hopeful, than I have, in a LONG time. And the Plame Game is still to be played out, too. That oughta be HUGE fun! I haven't felt this upbeat since I first heard Howard Dean.

By the way, MANY compliments on your latest Dadcom story. What a wonderful report.

But you are spot-on about one thing, my friend: THIS IS NO TIME TO GET COMPLACENT!!!!!!!!!!

14. After 2002, I Still Don't Feel Safe
After what happened to the Democratic Party in 2002, I won't begin to feel safe about seeing the end of this crop of Bushies until I hear George the Inept make his concession speech in November and I won't feel secure until John F. Kerry is sworn in as President of the United States.

Yes, it looks like the people in the White House and oh-so-many of their supporters in Congress and the Senate, as well as their other henchfolk in statehouses across the country, might finally be on boil. But nothing's assured until the votes are fairly counted and tabulated.

It still ain't over 'til it's over.

But Divine Providence smiling on us and the Republicans put to rout, I look forward to baiting the "conservatives" who dragged down the elephant party and the rest of the country with it.

24. Interesting, And AOL's Polls Get Freeped, Too
Interesting poll. Of course it's unscientific as all get-out and we won't know how many of those polled will come out and vote this autumn.

But what I find hopeful is that so many of AOL's polls get "freeped" by right-wingers who go back and vote multiple times using multiple screen names and other tricks. Maybe things look better for us good guys than we think.

19. I agree - be positive BUT....
Be attentive.
Be wary.
Be prepared.
Because ANYTHING can happen.

Truck Bomb. (terrorist)
Subway chemical release. (terrorist)
Cheney "sudden serious illness".
Major unrest at the conventions. (protesters)
E-Voting anomaly.
Indictments handed down in CIA outing.
Suicide bomber (US)
Major escalation of insurgency in Iraq.
Civil war in Iraq.
Saddam trial.

All of these things and more may happen and happen soon.
I hope not.

I hope we kick ass and sing some dopey song together on January 24th 2005.

But anything can happen.
And I ain't cool with that.

And they know it, too. The RW spinners today look shell shocked.

The turning point in the election was today when Edwards walked outside with his wife and child. No amount of money can buy that image. No amount of spin can make it go away.

Time has run out for ugly man.

I went golfing in celebration of Edwards and got paired up with a 62 year-old rockribbed Repub. Around the 9th hole, after I mentioned the NY Post fiasco, he said: "Doesn't matter who Kerry picked - Bush is the biggest fuck-up I've ever seen!"

We are a deeply divided country, with huge problems facing us. The solid base that fuled Bush last time are still there.

Counting chickens before they hatch is always foolish. While I am enjoying watching the wheels come off of the Bush wagon, there is still a ways to go before it's time to celebrate.

34. Ya know what else I've noticed? New DUers!
LOTS of new DUers posting, and very few of them seem to be neocon trolls. I'm not a real long-timer here, but I have gotten used to seeing the majority of contributions coming from folks with 1000+ posts to their credit. All of a sudden, in the last couple of days, LOTS of posts from people in the double digits.

It's a good feeling.

Now, that's enough celebrating! Everybody back to work, because you know we are going to have to CRUSH these bastards this time around. Anything less than a landslide and we are all in danger of seeing our hopes for the nation's future totally obliterated.

Landslide in November! Woo-hoo!!!!

36. This is what you do....
You ask everyone who's family and friends if they've registered to vote.

You don't take "well I think so" or other comments.
You keep in their face about it.

I've gotten close to 50 now...through ongoing email groups I've started and various friends and family and even guys down at the gas station.

Offer to pick them up and take them....make a party nite of it.

It's going to be close here in Jersey I know.
Keep the focus on voter registration and everyone you can get in the mix. Don't take anything for granted. It's votes that are going to win this.

40. Be cautious
There's a lot of fighting you folks still need to do.

I've been following events from Ottawa, and in addition to gobbling up DU threads I've been doing a lot of background reading on the chit that's been going down in your country. What I've found had given me a profoundly dystopian outlook. Along with all the expectable machinations coming out of your executive branch and the sinister political/corporate connections well documented here, I've found:

1. Christian Reconstructionism / Dominionism
2. The Constitution Restoration Act of 2004
3. The Microbiologist Murders
4. The fact that the hole in the Pentagon was too small to have been made by a 757
5. The eye-popping series of questions surrounding Nick Berg's death
6. The lack of attention being paid by DOJ to indigenous right-wing terrorists

... and on and on. Some of it's definitely tinfoil-hat stuff, but all of it contains germs of reasonable suspicion, and it all paints a dark picture of potential futures for the USA.

You want to know my prediction? The outcome of the election will be coloured by two events - the October Surprise (wich may come in September) and BBV vote-rigging. And my candidate for the October Surprise is a massive biological attack. Anybody who thinks I'm being too extremist should contemplate the implications of point 4 and read up on point 3.

You guys aren't out of the woods yet by any means, as far as I can tell.
