872 dead, twenty in the last nine days |
|
Something big is going on, we and our sycophants were chased out of a bhagdad neighborhood, they've been dropping bombs on "suspected" safe houses killing many civillians in the process. There are no reports of wounded since the end of June, something is fucking going to hell and nobody will say anything.

1. Of course not. I've been thinking there's a total news blackout in Iraq |
|
because they bush* administration DESPERATELY needs to maintain the lie that things are going just ducky since the handover. They need to maintain the facade that the phony government is in charge and capable of handling the insurgency.
This is the life or death of the bush* election. If it is obvious that there is no control even after the handjob, I mean handover, then all credibility, even among the most die-hard suporters, is going to be questioned. You can't maintain a lie forever if what you see contradicts it.

2. I was surprised to (not ) see ANY headlines about Iraq casualties |
|
this morning. There are six newspapers on my bookmarks list- starting locally and including the Pittsburgh PostGazette, NYT, WaPO, and San Fran Chron. It took until the Wapo before there was any mention of Iraq at all, and only the Chron mentioned the American casualties.
It is abhorrent that a day with four American fatalities doesn't even make the news in this country. This link is from a Chinese Newspaper?
I just looked at the wires on NYT. I see that PeopleSoft has cut its earnings forecast. I can face the day now.

said on Monday that things had been incredibly "calm" in Iraq since the handover.

4. The BBC talked about it this morning |

The situation in Iraq has heated up in a big way in the last few days, but you wouldn't know it from watching U.S. news sources. Look! Look over there! It's Laci Peterson!
