MSNBC reporting that North Carolina is in play and even the Repubs |
|
in NC admit that NC is no longer a "gimme" for Bush and now they really have to pour money and work into NC to get it.
Hahaha. Eat it, suckers.

1. My family, on my mother's side... |

Is from North and South Carolina. The Sondley Family part goes back to the earliest history down there. The Littlejohns ain't far behind.
So, I can say this, with a certain bit of accuracy: Nothing, and I mean NOTHING is gonna piss off the North and South Carolinians(except, of course, for the Frothing, Ted Sampley-blowing cranks...) more than some jumped-up, fake-cowboy, fake-accent, economy-wreckin', war-startin', military-desertin', shifty-eyed northerner tellin' them that their local-boy-made-good ain't good enough to be VP. And them that says that can kiss their salty ass.
You can take THAT to the bank.

4. TS, this is very encouraging! |

Though I'm no Tarheel, I do know that the Bush Economy has not been kind to most Carolinians. Toss in a gratutious war and its effects on military families, along the fake-ass cowboy routine you mentioned, and it looks like the state is definitely in play. Very cool!

5. Oh, I didn't think of how ticked off North Carolinians would be |
|
if Bush and Cheney start knocking Edwards too hard. You're right, I suspect the moderates and independents here would swing over to Edwards in that case.
South Carolina, too.
Bring it on, Bushco.

2. Not only NC, but other states as well |
|
I think that Arkansas, Louisiana and of course Florida are in play. I think that both AR and LA will go Dem this year. Florida, too, if Jeb can't outright steal it for Shrub again.

They also said that a poll taken a couple of months ago showed a dead heat with Edwards on the ticket with Kerry. I'm can't wait to see the new polling data for NC - awesome if our boys take the lead there.
Too bad CNN can't stop bashing Edwards long enough to report on such minor things as how Edwards might impact the election.

7. I think SC is in play too, but the MSNBC story was |
|
focusing on NC in particular.
The story showed quoted a couple of NC Repugs who sounded really nervous, and reading between the lines, they sounded like they needed money and plenty of it to try to win their seats.
Bush is going to be in North Caroliina today (in front of a hand picked crowd) and there is a big protest planned!

8. South Carolina will be a tough nut. But there is an outside chance. |
|
South Carolina is rabidly pro-Bu$h and fervently Christian fundamentalist (Bob Jones University is in Greenville, SC). However, the upstate has lost a lot of jobs and the low-country is dirt poor. Edwards grew up in a mill village in Oconee County (upstate). That will definitely resonate with some undecided voters in SC.
The good news is that a good showing in SC (but not necessarily a win) by Kerry/Edwards will be a big boost for Inez Tennenbaum, the Democratic candidate for retiring Sen. Fritz Holling's seat. That is a must-keep seat for us if we are to re-take the Senate.
